Job Overview
This position is responsible for leading the Under Armour brand marketing function within Gear For Sports. The primary purpose of this role is to leverage marketing insights, strategies, tactics and resources in a way that helps Gear For Sports profitably grow the Under Armour licensed sports apparel business. The secondary purpose of this role is to insure that the licensor, Under Armour – Baltimore, is appropriately integrated into the marketing plans developed and executed by Gear For Sports for the Under Armour licensed sports apparel business. Product Lines Supported: Under Armour (NCAA/Pro Sports/Military/Resort/Golf).
Major Responsibilities
Strategic Direction. Help develop the strategic marketing direction for the UA licensed apparel business. Insure that the direction is aligned with UA-Baltimore brand marketing strategy while helping to drive UA licensed apparel growth.
Consumer Insights. Understand the UA licensed apparel target consumer. Help the creation of content that allows GFS to keep the target consumer in mind when developing business plans. Lead the development and communication of consumer insight data and information that the entire UA brand team can leverage to help inform decision-making.
Digital Marketing. Help create digital strategy, assets, and media plans in an effort to optimize brand, Gear for Sports, and customer outcomes.
Trade Marketing. Work with brand and sales teams to concept, develop and execute GFS customer-facing marketing tactics including: catalogs & collateral, tradeshows, in-store/concept shops, ecommerce marketing and retail partnerships.
Marketing Materials. Be able to help conceptualize and produce marketing materials for customer, retail, and UA-Baltimore meetings; Be able to help produce high-quality, brand-right marketing decks and materials for different audiences.
Marketing – Stakeholder Communication. Serve as the primary point of contact and communication for Gear For Sports and the UA-Baltimore team on all marketing-related requests, activities and results.
Agency Management. Assist in the process of finding, vetting, negotiating with, briefing and managing external agencies used by UA-Baltimore and GFS in the development and execution of marketing plans and activations.
Annual Marketing Plan & Budget. Help lead the creation, development, presentation, approval process (with UA – Baltimore and GFS) and regular reviews of the annual GFS UA marketing plan and budget.
Brand and Marketing Presentations. Will present on a regular basis both virtually and in-person to UA and Gear for Sports Stakeholders.
Miscellaneous. Be able to help lead other miscellaneous marketing activities that are needed from season to season including things like campus ambassador programs, product packaging (e.g. hangtags), internal marketing newsletters, etc.
Specific Expertise. Understand and demonstrate appropriate level of expertise in all key marketing tactics including: media, athlete/asset marketing, PR, event, retail marketing and especially digital marketing (web, social, mobile, email, SEO, etc.)
Qualifications
BS/BA Degree, 3+ years of sales/marketing exp.
Highly proficient PowerPoint, Excel, Word computer skills.
Superior interpersonal communications skills and planning and organization skills are required.
The successful candidate must thrive in a fast paced environment with multiple priorities to successfully interact across functions; subscribes to the highest standards of business ethics.
Must be able to travel on a regular basis to UA-Baltimore, photoshoots, tradeshows, customers, and for other business needs—Typically 4 trips per year.
The employee is required to stand, walk, stoop or crouch and regularly lift 30-40 pounds.
