About the Marketing and Communications Team
The Marketing and Communications (MarComms) team strengthens Ceres’ brand and position as a leading nonprofit advocacy organization with global influence and reach. Through a range of effective paid, earned, shared, and organic media and marketing strategies across digital platforms and convenings, this team brings increased understanding and awareness around solutions that will accelerate global efforts to build a cleaner, more just, and sustainable future.
About the Role
We are looking for a proactive, detail-oriented team member with exceptional organizational skills to help provide support to the Marketing and Communications team. This is an excellent early career position for a strong communicator who is passionate about climate change and sustainability and interested in building skills and experience in strategic communications, media relations, messaging and writing, and digital marketing. This full-time position reports to the Senior Director, Marketing and Communications and can be performed remotely or from the Boston, MA office or San Francisco, CA offices. Candidates must be flexible to work with employees in all US time zones.
Specific duties include but are not limited to the following:
Cross-Cutting Administrative Support
Schedule, organize, and facilitate weekly department and cross-team meetings.
Work with Department head and directors to plan and execute team retreats, special meetings, and other team events throughout the year.
Manage team calendar, SharePoint site, slack channels and other team-related platforms.
Work with leadership to compile marketing and media metrics for staff, board, and funders.
Share Marketing and Communications policies, procedures, resources, and tools with new team members and other staff.
Data entry in Salesforce to support annual planning processes to ensure team compliance with organizational annual planning schedules and deliverables.
Process monthly marketing and communications expenses ensuring proper allocation of expenses to appropriate budgets.
Submit marketing and communications contracts and ensure timely approvals.
Support strategic communications staff on utilizing our reporter database and media tracking platform.
Digital Marketing
Monitor organizational email inbox, ensuring relevant messages are sent to the right contact and media and donor inquiries are answered in a timely manner.
Compose and send out weekly marketing and communications updates to staff.
Work with Senior Associate, Website Management to post Ceres news and blogs to external media platforms.
Support strategic communications staff on utilizing our reporter database and media tracking platform.
Build and QA Ceres mass marketing emails, network e-newsletters, and fundraising appeal emails.
Other tasks or projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience required.
Minimum of one (1) year of full-time related experience required, interest in communications and marketing and/or journalism a plus.
Strong organization and project management skills. Proven track record of successfully completing projects on time.
Prior work experience in a newsroom or nonprofit a plus (optional).
Experience with basic video editing programs (e.g. iMovie, Adobe, etc.).
Knowledge of media tracking and/or digital platforms.
Administrative experience strongly desired.
Ability to evaluate workload and prioritize projects to meet deadlines.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both in person and in written communications.
Ability to work well both independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
Able to manage multiple tasks at the same time and shift quickly from one to the next.
Able to work well independently and as a team member.
Desire to work in a mission-driven / nonprofit environment.
Passionate about environmental or sustainability issues.
Interest in being part of a diverse workforce and willingness to support Ceres’ Commitment to Inclusion and Equity.
Willingness to travel as needed.
Compensation and Benefits
The hiring salary is $45,000 – $53,400 with competitive benefits (Pay Grade 11).
