Job Description

Purpose of the Role

Reports to Marine & Specialty Manager. You will conduct day to day underwriting and related administrative tasks as part of the Singapore Marine & Specialty team. You will be focusing on all of Chubb’s distribution channels. This is a critical role, as you apply your knowledge and skills to contribute to the overall growth and profitability of the portfolio and P&C department’s overall business goals.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

Assist the Senior Underwriters/Underwriters in underwriting of Marine & Specialty business. Evaluate, accept or reject risk submissions (including endorsements) in accordance with Chubb underwriting guidelines and authority level. To refer for higher authority review where required

Assist team in formulating and implementing Multinational Global Programs along with rest of Chubb team and producers to best tailor made to insured’s needs.

Developing and maintaining strong relationships with all stakeholders with a proactive solution-driven approach

Upholding a close rapport with producers to obtain necessary underwriting information, promote satisfactory service relationships and encourage renewal retention and submission of targeted business

Develop our market positioning with a multi-line approach mindset

Good understanding of policy administration life cycle, data collection, policy issuance, premium bookings, credit control and other administrative requirements. Coordinating with Chubb teams to ensure valid and timely response

Complying and assisting to both internal and external audits requirements

Assist in training and development of peers

Perform ad-hoc tasks/projects and other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelor’s Degree, Business Degree, relevant Insurance qualifications or equivalent

Demonstrated underwriting ability and technical competence as evidenced by a minimum of 1 – 2 years’ underwriting experience or equivalent industry experience.

Good analytical skills and ability to evaluate and judge underwriting risks within designated authority

Effective communication & interpersonal skills to work with all stakeholders (such as clients, brokers, agents & Chubb personnel)

To be self-motivating with a drive for self-improvement and progression

Microsoft Office skills

Keen to learn about new products

Open minded to find new solutions and products or new ways of managing the workload

Knowledge of our products: cargo, freight forwarders liability, inland marine, hull, marine liability, fine arts.
