The Director of Creative Content is a professional, leadership position that is responsible for producing creative video content for LSU’s nationally recognized athletics programs and external platforms. This role produces a variety of content including television, social media, subscription, in-venue video board pieces, mobile app-based content and more. In addition to creating content, this position oversees a staff of full-time Creative Content producers, has sport-specific responsibilities, and oversight of Olympic sports creative content. This position collaborates with social and digital media, marketing and promotions teams and creative services to develop digital storytelling, features and messaging. Must have a strong content creation background, creative ideas and have a proven track record for creating high level content. Ability to work in a team/collaborative environment is a must.
40% Responsible for covering LSU Athletics sporting events, shooting and editing both short and long-form video content pieces, sponsored and promotional videos, PSA’s, and other similar projects distributed on various multimedia outlets representing the LSU Athletics Department including social media, broadcast television, official sports website, subscription website, etc.; Responsible for developing original ideas to produce engaging and effective video content using all available resources. Able to guide a project from original concept through production to edit/completion in a timely manner and based on specific requirements and due dates. Schedules, manages and prioritizes projects; Creates video content from home and away contests, practices and special events for assigned sport team(s); Maintains consistent relationships with assigned sport team(s), which includes but is not limited to weekly content meetings, occasional travel, pitching and producing sport-specific content, creating sport-specific in-venue content, producing large concept projects (Ex: intro video shoots, all-access style pieces, etc.) and content for LSU Athletics’ official website, LSUsports.net, and LSU Athletics’ official subscription service, LSU+; Develops creative that reflects the LSU Athletics brand and are consistent with the department’s communications goals; Knowledgeable of and ensure compliance with departmental, University, conference and NCAA procedures, rules and regulations.
30% Oversees full-time staff including scheduling and preparation for events, announcements and releases; Assigns projects, review and approve work and assist in the professional and technical development of full-time staff. Ensure all goals and standards are adhered to before publishing content; works jointly with other Director of Creative Content to ensure cohesion with student-workers and graduate assistants.
25% Responsible for the oversight of Olympic Sport creative content, which includes but is not limited to attending sport-specific meetings, assigning projects, providing feedback on projects prior to publication, scheduling, setting deadlines, creating tutorials and furthering education, etc.
5% Advances and supports LSU and Athletics Department initiatives through personal participation in educational and developmental opportunities, as well as participation in the transformational culture consistent with the values of LSU and its Athletics Department; Works collaboratively with the Office of Communications and University Relations and adheres to the standards set therein; Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Graphic Design, Multimedia, Animation, Film, or similar field of study with three years of experience; Strong understanding of production/post-production process; Experience in video production & non-linear editing; Previously held positions which included supervisory and managerial responsibilities; Working knowledge and experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, Photoshop, After Effects, etc.) and Apple computers; Working knowledge of video production equipment; operating cameras, microphones, tripods, stabalizers, etc.; Proven content creation skills in a high paced, demanding professional setting; Understanding of and alignment with the Core Values of LSU Athletics. Preferred Qualifications
Five years experience; Experience with professional or collegiate sports teams; Motion graphic design.
Special or Physical Requirements
Ability to work events and games which often include extended days, nights and weekends; Occasional travel is required; Work examples and portfolio reel required. Pre-employment physical required.
