Grants Officer
Job Purpose:
The Grants Officer is responsible for identifying, securing, and managing grant funding opportunities for the Housing Authority of the City of Dothan. This includes researching potential funding sources, developing competitive grant proposals, overseeing grant administration, and ensuring compliance with grant requirements. The Grants Officer plays a vital role in supporting the agency’s mission by obtaining financial resources to implement programs and services that benefit the community.
Key Responsibilities:
Research and identify potential grant funding opportunities from federal, state, local, and private sources that align with the Housing Authority’s strategic goals and priorities.
Develop and write compelling grant proposals, including narratives, budgets, and supporting documentation, that clearly articulate the need for funding and the proposed project’s impact.
Manage the entire grant application process, including coordinating with internal departments, gathering required information, and submitting proposals by established deadlines.
Oversee grant administration, ensuring compliance with all grant terms and conditions, including budget management, reporting requirements, and program implementation.
Monitor grant performance, track expenditures, and prepare financial reports to funding agencies and internal stakeholders.
Maintain accurate records of grant activities, including applications, awards, and correspondence.
Develop and maintain relationships with funding agencies and other key stakeholders.
Stay informed about current grant trends, regulations, and best practices.
Collaborate with program staff to ensure successful grant implementation and achievement of project objectives.
Assist in the development of the agency’s annual grant seeking plan.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, or a related field.
Required Experience:
Minimum of two years of experience in grant writing, grant management, or a related field.
Experience working with federal, state, or local government grants.
Experience with budget development and management.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word.
Knowledge of grant regulations and compliance requirements.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
