About us

The department offers an undergraduate programme (including options for study abroad and a work placement year), an undergraduate affiliate student programme, postgraduate (MSc) programmes in Economics, Finance, Economics and Political Science, and a vibrant, structured MPhil/PhD programme.

The Department of Economics at UCL has an academic staff of 50, supplemented with full-time research staff and teaching fellows plus an active programme of academic visitors. There are currently over 1000 undergraduates and more than 150 taught graduate students studying in the department, alongside over 80 PhD students.

The role provides dedicated high-level executive and administrative support to theCommunicationManager in internal communications, events, and visitors’ programmes.

They will plan and prioritise a busy and varied workload in afast-pacedworking environment, exercising judgement to manage competing priorities. They will also be expected to lead and contribute to a range of projects and activities to facilitate the delivery of a high performing service.

As Communications and Events Officer, the postholder will provide proactive, high quality and professional support to the Communications Manager in satisfying the communications and events strategy of the department to a high standard.

About you

You will be educated to a degree level in communications or marketing discipline or equivalent professional experience. You should have demonstrated experience in implementing communications across digital communications or marketing channels, experience of curating, creating and posting social media content (e.g. Instagram, Linked In, Twitter, Facebook, and You Tube), experience of editing and publishing website content through a Content Management System (e.g. Drupal), experience of implementing email communications and campaigns through HTML platforms (e.g. Mailchimp), and experience of planning and delivering internal and external events (e.g. lectures, seminars, or conferences).

Additionally, you should have experience of contributing to initiatives that support Equality,Diversity and Inclusionwithin your team or organisation.
