Volunteers of America-Greater New York (VOA-Greater New York) is an anti-poverty organization working to end homelessness in the New York area by 2050. We operate over 60 programs across New York City, Northern New Jersey and Westchester County including emergency, transitional and permanent housing. Our services extend to families experiencing homelessness, survivors of domestic violence, people living with HIV/AIDS, veterans, youth aging out of foster care, adults with behavioral health or substance use needs, and others in need, including a specialeducationpreschool program.

Position:
Communications Manager, Internal(Hybrid Remote)
The Communications Manager, Internal is responsible for developing and implementing VOA-GNY’s internal communications and events strategy to fosteremployee engagement, promote alignment with our vision, and strengthen organizational culture and transparency.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field. Minimum 5 years of experience in communications,employee engagementor related role with event planning responsibilities.

Outstanding writing and editing skills and understanding of voice, nuance, and audience; experience communicating sensitive messages
Experience in event planning
The highestattention to detail. Highly motivated, proactive and adaptable with excellentproblem-solving skills
Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks against tight deadlines
Strong interpersonal skills and experience collaborating across departments and functional groups
Excellent ability to understand and simplify complex issues
High level of proficiency using all Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Knowledge of Spanish is an asset.

Communications Manager, Internal Principal Responsibilities:
Develop and implement an internal communications plan that aligns with organizational priorities and complements the external communications plan.
Lead the creation and distribution of our regular employee newsletter, ensuring content is informative, engaging and reflects adiverserange of our work and employees.
Draft and edit all-staff communications from ExecutiveLeadership(including the President & CEO) in the appropriate tone of voice; craft sensitive messages with care and consideration.
Plan, coordinate and manage logistics for regular town hall events and management meetings, including presentation materials.
Collaborate withcross-functional teamsto plan and execute major staff events, including the annual staff picnic, Shared Values Awards and otheremployee engagementinitiatives.
Maintain a calendar of program events and distribute to relevant departments to identify potential opportunities for donor or elected official engagement or media coverage.
Supportemployee recognitionefforts by identifying exceptional staff from across the organization; interview and/or write stories as needed.
