Communications Officer and Data Specialist

The Native American Agriculture Fund (NAAF) is searching for a Communications Officer and Data Specialist (CO-DS) to join our organization. NAAF is the largest U.S. philanthropic organization focused exclusively on the needs of Native American farmers and ranchers. This position requires someone who has a proactive personality and engaging team player style with a passion for and commitment to the mission and core values of NAAF.

The CO-DS will help amplify the story of Native food and agriculture through data analysis and content creation. The CO-DS will assist the CEO and senior leadership with all communications efforts and serve as the in-house creator of all multimedia projects and data visualization. The CO-DS may be periodically asked to assist with special projects. The CO-DS may also be asked to provide support to the program and finance departments on an as-needed basis.

Required Competencies and Skills:

Web performance and design

o Experience with content management systems (CMS) such as WordPress

o Experience with web hosting platforms such as GoDaddy

Experience with graphic design, including proficiencies with tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Canva
Photography and videography

o Proficiency with camera operation, lighting techniques, sound recording equipment

Strong data analysis and technical writing skills
Strong editing and proofreading skills, with a strong attention to detail
Microsoft Office 365, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
In-depth knowledge of Zoom and other webinar platforms, including hosting, scheduling, and managing webinars
Team player who is adaptable, communicative, and willing to pitch in where needed to ensure the team’s overall effectiveness and achievement
Ability to foster complete collaboration and open communication among all members
Assist in propelling our key projects and initiatives forward with determination
Demonstrate initiative in addressing challenges and seizing opportunities
Ability to manage multiple projects and assignments simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Communications support for events such as virtual and in-person conferences, convenings, media events, and presentations
Maintain NAAF website updates and provide technical support
Visualize and analyze data and research findings for reports and graphics on behalf of the organization
Write, edit, and produce content for NAAF newsletters, educational materials, reports, and presentations.
Assist with multimedia projects like videos, podcasts, webinars, and graphic design
Collaborate with NAAF’s program and compliance team to gather data that support NAAF’s storytelling campaigns, case studies, reports, presentations, and educational materials
Support project coordination, assist with external communications, including but not limited to vendors and media consultants
Manage the communications team assets (photos, videos, design elements, media permissions)
Support efforts to track deadlines and deliverables for communications team
Undertake all other duties and special projects as assigned, including but not limited to grant maintenance and compliance duties.

Degree in agriculture, communications, and or equivalent experience in agricultural work with Native farmers and ranchers preferred. 2-3 years of experience in Communications is preferred.
