Part-Time Communication Partner & Support for a Gifted 16-Year-Old (Non-Verbal, Autistic)
Location: Alamo, CA
Hours: Monday – Friday, Part-Time (Flexible) extra hours if desired
Pay: $30/hr
Education: bachelors in psychology or communication (preferred)
We are looking for a caring, patient, and proactive individual to assist a 16-year-old female with autism who is non-verbal but highly intelligent (a savant in math and excelling in English). She communicates through a spelling board and keyboard and needs a supportive partner to help facilitate her communication, learning, and daily activities.
Responsibilities:
Assist with communication using a spelling board and keyboard.
Support her during learning activities, helping her express her thoughts.
Assist with daily routines, including preparing simple lunches. (Many tasks she can do independently)
Engage in reading, word games, puzzles, and other interactive activities.
Encourage independence while providing needed guidance.
Foster a positive and engaging environment.
Ideal Candidate:
Kind, patient, and proactive—someone who genuinely cares.
Comfortable working with non-verbal individuals.
Prior experience with autism or related fields is a plus but not required.
Willing to learn and adapt to her unique way of communication.
