Job Summary:
The Meyer Copywriter is charged with bringing the innovation, engineering, and compelling reasons to believe in Meyer Corp. cookware to life with exciting and relatable copy that helps consumers find their way to purchasing our products. As copywriter and a crucial member of the Creative Services & Content team, you’ll be responsible for managing the creation, development, and implementation of copy and copy-related content for Meyer across multiple brands, channels, and platforms—which means you’ll be frequently writing in a different tone of voice and for different audiences. You’ll be charged with providing smart, sharp, and SEO-driven copy for Meyer products on Amazon.com, retailer websites, and our own Direct to Consumer (DTC) platforms. Plus you’ll work on video, social media, longform SEO articles and roundups, ads, in-store merchandising, and anywhere and everywhere Meyer products come to life via the written word.
Essential Job Duties:
Be a messaging Jedi Master and work collaboratively with brand teams to develop the reasons to believe, unique claims, features and benefits, and tone of voice for brands, collections, and individual products.
Bring our products to life on the digital shelf with compelling product descriptions and keyworded product titles, feature and benefits bullets, and enhanced content designed to nurture consumers quickly down the purchasing funnel.
Crosstrain across departments and work with marketing, sales, and e-commerce teams to ensure timely and efficient delivery of product copy assets into digital asset management databases.
Keep everything clean and current. As the manager of all copy assets, you’ll regularly conduct proofreading audits of existing copy and content and make corrections and improvements as needed to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with business strategy.
Research and report on competitive keywords and competitive content landscapes.
Identify, evaluate, and maintain copywriting and retailer SEO and keywording tools including MerchantWords, Amazon Vendor Central, and Google Trends.
You’ll have a curious and friendly attitude towards embracing AI advancements to elevate your copywriting craft and optimize efficiency.
Remember, you’re the word person, so you’ll provide copywriting, editing, proofreading, grammar and style support for email, print collateral, website, print advertising, public relations materials, etc.
Assist with social media copy as needed (Facebook, Instagram, and other platforms) in service to brand objectives and strategies.
Support Sr. Manager, Content, with assigning, editing, and managing freelance writers.
You’ll sync with our retailer partners and manage all vendor-specific copywriting and product detail page (PDP) content relationships as needed.
You’re thorough and exact and dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of copywriting and quality control on all copy.
You’ll name things, too, including new products, new collections, new features and innovations, and even new colors.
Is there a hyphen in that? You’ll obviously serve as a resource on-call to other departments for copywriting, editing, and grammar review.
Support all other related duties as directed by the Sr. Manager of Content.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must have a minimum of 5 years of copywriting experience, including experience writing for consumer products. Knowledge of culinary terminology and cooking procedures preferred.
B.A. in communications, journalism, English or related field is required
Must possess strong writing, proofreading, and grammar skills; fluent in AP/Chicago style guidelines.
Must have excellent command of the English language.
Must have the ability to articulate technical concepts with engaging prose as evidenced by a portfolio of stellar creative.
Must be highly adaptable and have the ability to work with Graphic Designers as well as Marketing, Business Development, Sales, and Web teams to effectively communicate with our customers.
Must be computer-savvy with the ability to quickly pick up technical skills.
Comfortable taking feedback and adapting to changing conditions.
Must possess a high level of self-motivation and an ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under tight deadlines.
Able to create copy that adheres to the spirit of the brand and resonates with the consumer.
Must possess the mental and physical capacities to perform the job duties.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed primarily indoors. Lighting is artificial. Equipment used includes standard office equipment i.e. computer, fax machine, telephone, printer and copy machine. Physical demands include sitting, repetitive use of hands, standing, walking. Days are primarily Monday through Friday with some overtime and weekends required. Individuals in this position may do some traveling. Position requires close contact with all Meyer employees, outside vendors and customers.
