Position Primary Purpose:
The Development Assistant supports the Development Department by performing a variety of administrative tasks related to fundraising, donor database management, donation processing, donor relations, and social media materials. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth operation of the department and contributing to the successful execution of fundraising initiatives.
Essential Functions:
Works alongside development administrators to develop strategies for encouraging new and increased donations.
Assists with outreach and community engagement efforts as needed, including social media management.
Serves as the first point of contact for donor relations, utilizing strong interpersonal skills.
Collaborates with and assist volunteers and donors in third-party fundraising activities.
Maintains high levels of donor engagement through prompt recognition and appreciation, including updating donation entry logs, issuing receipts, and updating donor profiles.
Assists development administrators to coordinate workflow and donation designations with the Fiscal Department.
Provides administrative support to fundraising volunteers.
Becomes proficient in donor database software to answer customer inquiries and generate reports for programs and the Board of Directors.
Acts as a liaison for fundraising activities with IT services, vendors, and other departments.
Conducts and coordinates research related to fundraising activities, potential donors, and donor markets.
Works with the Finance Department to ensure correct designations for check and cash donations from donors.
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with clients, subcontractors, government officials, and media representatives to develop new fundraising opportunities.
Assists with ongoing projects and initiatives as needed.
All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Key Competencies:
Knowledge of nonprofit fundraising principles and donor communication software.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite.
Familiarity with social media management tasks, platforms and strategies.
Ability to quickly learn and effectively utilize new software, applying innovative solutions.
Strong word processing and spreadsheet software skills.
Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to identify and correct potential errors.
Capacity to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Minimum Requirements and Education:
Associate degree in a relevant field that emphasizes writing, research, and analytical skills.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in fundraising and donor relations.
Proficiency in using donor database software and Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Compensation:
This is a 40 hour per week nonexempt position paying $20-$22 DOE
