Position Overview:
The Manager of Audience Marketing plays a critical role in developing and executing strategies to grow and retain our readership and advertisers across various platforms, including print, digital, and social media. This position requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of audience behavior, subscription models, and the evolving media landscape. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of the importance of local journalism, a strong analytical mindset, and a proven track record of driving audience engagement and revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive audience marketing strategies to increase readership, subscriptions, and engagement across all platforms. Strategies to grow the audience may include event planning and initiatives that engage readers, subscribers, and advertisers—both current and potential.
Campaign Management: Plan, execute, and optimize marketing campaigns that drive audience growth and retention, using a mix of digital marketing, content marketing, and traditional marketing tactics.
Data Analysis: Analyze audience data and metrics to inform marketing strategies, track campaign performance, and make data-driven decisions to improve results.
Collaboration: Work closely with editorial, sales, and product teams to align marketing initiatives with content strategies and business goals.
Budget Management: Manage the audience marketing budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and maximizing ROI.
Audience Segmentation: Develop and implement segmentation strategies to target specific audience groups, personalize marketing efforts, and enhance user experience.
Subscriber Acquisition & Retention: Lead efforts to acquire new subscribers and retain existing ones through targeted campaigns, promotions, and loyalty programs.
Content Strategy: Collaborate with the editorial team to create and promote content that resonates with key audience segments and drives engagement.
Partnership Development: Identify and establish strategic partnerships to expand audience reach and enhance marketing efforts.
Reporting: Prepare regular reports on audience growth, campaign performance, and key metrics to inform senior leadership and stakeholders.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent sales and customer service skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficient with Google Mail and other business/marketing-related software.
Strong prioritization, organization, and project management skills.
Ability to travel as necessary.
Training and Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Statistics, Business, or related field required.
Three (3) to five (5) years of related experience in business, promotional sales, customer service, or related field preferred.
Additional Requirements:
Position is subject to satisfactory completion of a background check and reference check.
A valid driver’s license is required for this position.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Physical demands: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer while in the office. During event planning, this position must be able to lift 15 pounds.
Work Environment: This position works in an office setting, where noise is minimal. This position may occasionally be required to work weekends and holidays.

Pay: From $45,000.00 per year
