Executive Communications Strategist for Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist

As an Executive Communications Strategist at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist (AHWFB), you will take the lead in crafting, managing, and executing strategic communications on behalf of executive leaders and the health system as requested. Working collaboratively within a dynamic team that includes communications leaders for executives at AHWFB, Wake Forest University School of Medicine (WFUSOM), and Advocate Health (of which AHWFB is part), your role will be pivotal in ensuring our messaging remains cohesive, engaging, and aligned with our goals as an academic learning health system.
Key responsibilities of the Communications Strategist include, but are not limited to:
Compelling Content: Craft speeches, messages, and presentations that resonate with both internal and external audiences leveraging a multi-channel approach grounded in best practices and insights. The ability to write in a leader’s unique voice across multiple platforms is paramount.
Storytelling: Find and develop compelling stories that elevate clinical excellence that can be shared across multiple external and internal platforms and with a variety of audiences.
Innovative Engagement: Lead and execute innovative communication tactics to engage leaders and teammates across our health system, utilizing the latest channels and technology.
Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement strategic communications plans in collaboration with executives to help achieve key business priorities.
Relationship Building: Foster relationships between the executive leaders, faculty, staff, and our entire health system, working closely with WFUSOM leaders, departments and leaders across the region and Advocate Health.
Communications Support: Support the broader communications team with external and internal messaging, as needed.
An ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
Communication Expertise: Outstanding writing, editing, scripting, presentation development, organizational and proofreading skills. Ability to write in a leader’s voice for various audiences.
Innovative Thinker: Energetic, highly motivated, and creative, with a strong attention to detail and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
Tech-Savvy: Proficient in various social media platforms and best practices, technology, and software, including PowerPoint and audio/video/graphic design tools.
Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, journalism, marketing, or related field with 3-5 years of relevant experience. Master’s degree is preferred.
Team Player: Proven ability to work collaboratively with senior leaders, physicians, scientists, and personnel at all levels, along with external partners and stakeholders.
Willingness to Travel: Be prepared to travel as needed to various locations throughout the area and for occasional evening or weekend hours and some overnight travel to support event coverage at various sites.
Position Highlights:
Schedule: Hybrid. Flexible, but must be available to attend certain meetings or events in person, sometimes with short notice.
