Position Title: Director of Communications & Engagement
Position Summary: The Director of Communications & Engagement is responsible for overseeing all Cat Care Society communications, marketing, event, and community engagement efforts. This leadership position is directly responsible for setting cohesive standards, high-level strategies, and collaborating with other key roles to maintain the organization’s reputation and image through coordinated communications and engagement across stakeholders. This person exhibits strong people and project management skills, is an exceptional communicator, and drives forward the strategic goals of the organization.

About CCS: Cat Care Society is a limited-admission non-profit cat shelter located in Lakewood, Colo., that was founded in 1981. Throughout our 40-plus year history, we’ve worked to provide adoption services and life-saving medical treatment to cats in need in Colorado while providing community engagement to people who love cats. Our unique and free-roaming approach views all cats as worthy; none are too old or ill to be valued, loved and treated with dignity.
Role Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a comprehensive and strategic marketing and communications plan.
Lead a marketing and events team, enhancing performance and promoting a culture that motivates staff and encourages collaboration.
Responsible for creating a content strategy, editorial calendars, branding, messaging, targeted outreach, print assets, website, digital content, social media, video, public relations, TV and radio.
Act as chief writer, editor, and project manager for newsletters, direct mail appeals, email marketing, annual reports, event collateral, outreach materials, stakeholder stories, and website and blog content.
Oversee and enhance the organization’s digital presence, ensuring alignment with strategic goals through website optimization, SEO strategies, and content development.
Lead the effective utilization of Google Ad Grants to drive brand awareness, increase engagement, and support organizational initiatives.
Manage and respond to public feedback by actively monitoring reviews and inquiries across key platforms, ensuring timely and professional communication.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent messaging and engagement across all digital channels.
Serve as the primary spokesperson and media contact, managing media relationships, sending press releases, and handling crisis communications as needed to protect and enhance the organization’s reputation.
Develop and maintain the departmental budget, policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure streamlined operations and alignment with organizational goals.
Establish metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of marketing and communications efforts, using data and insights to inform and refine future initiatives for optimal impact.
Collaborate with the Director of Philanthropy to create and execute marketing and communications assets for fundraising campaigns, integrating digital marketing strategies to maximize revenue generation opportunities.

Qualifications:

Outstanding written and verbal communications skills
Demonstrated ability to evaluate and draw conclusions from data

Creative thinker with ability to proactively develop new and innovative ideas
Ability to work in Google SuiteMS Office, Wordpress, Mailchimp, Canva, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, Google Analytics, and basic HTML/CSS knowledge
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or equivalent years of experience
5+ years supervisory experience preferred
Experience working in a Non-Profit, preferred
Experience in animal welfare, preferred
Working Conditions
Exposure to animals.
Potential exposure to zoonotic diseases, animal bites and scratches.
May require long periods of standing
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
