The American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers (ASFMRA) is the leading professional organization for rural property experts, providing education, networking and industry resources to farm managers, rural appraisers and consultants nationwide.
Job Summary/Objectives:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Membership and Marketing Manager to lead the development, execution and ongoing enhancement of our membership growth strategies, marketing campaigns and communications. As part of a small team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the success of our association’s membership engagement while providing leadership and oversight for membership, events and related committees. You will also be responsible for elevating the organization’s profile through targeted marketing efforts, ensuring we attract, retain and engage members in a meaningful way. This is an in-office position with some remote flexibility.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Leadership and Collaboration
Lead a small team, providing mentorship and support, while fostering a positive, team-oriented environment
Work closely with related task forces and committees as well as the Executive Vice President/CEO and other ASFMRA leaders to align membership and marketing initiatives with the organization’s overall mission and goals
Stay informed on industry trends and competitor strategies to ensure the association remains competitive and innovative
Marketing and Communications
Ensure effective creation of content, email campaigns and social media promotions to highlight ASFMRA’s educational opportunities, events and professional development opportunities
Monitor and report on marketing performance, using data insights to refine promotional strategies
Collaborate with the Senior Director of Education and Programs to develop and execute marketing strategies to promote ASFMRA’s educational opportunities and designation programs
Work with the Events Manager to develop event marketing strategies to increase attendance and engagement, ensuring events are well attended and aligned with member interests
Create and implement targeted campaigns using segmentation, geotargeting, and A/B testing to increase enrollment in ASFMRA’s educational offerings and attendance at ASFMRA events
Membership Management
Execute strategies to attract new members and engage existing members, ensuring growth within the association
Supervise the Senior Membership Manager to ensure timely renewal, membership communication, and ongoing relationship building
Work with the Membership Manager to develop and execute personalized member engagement plans and ensure high levels of chapter and member satisfaction
Analyze membership data to track engagement trends, identify growth opportunities, and assess retention efforts
Maintain a comprehensive membership database, ensuring accurate and up-to-date member records
Events Management
Supervise staff to ensure the smooth execution of member-related events such as conferences, educational opportunities, networking events, and member appreciation activities
Work with the Events Manager to create unique experiences that drive member participation and foster a strong community
Required Skills/Abilities/Qualifications:
Four-year bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business or a related field
5+ years of experience in the marketing or communications department of a small-to mid-sized organization
3+ years of experience in staff management with the proven ability to lead and motivate a small team, providing clear direction and fostering a collaborative environment
Strong marketing knowledge, including print and digital marketing, big picture thinking and data analytics
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in: Customer resource management, web management, social media and email marketing platforms; photography and video knowledge
Preferred: Knowledge of member-based organizations or associations is a plus

Working Conditions:
Remote Work Arrangements per ASFMRA Policy
Minimal extended or weekend hours required, primarily surrounding two major events each year
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting and eye strain may be required based to complete computer-based tasks
Lightweight lifting and other physical exertion may be necessary for in-office and on-site event tasks
