Purpose
The National Panhellenic Council (NPC) Advisory Committee is a special committee whose purpose is to assist International Council (IC) in legislative efforts within NPC and recruitment of NPC volunteers.
Responsibilities
Review proposed legislation affecting NPC Bylaws, NPC Unanimous Agreements, NPC Policies and NPC Procedures
Research potential impacts of proposed legislation
Provide guidance or feedback on proposed legislation
Draft legislation for Gamma Phi Beta’s Council of Delegates (COD) representative to propose to NPC legislative body
Create support materials for legislation that Gamma Phi Beta proposes or endorses
Serve as a supplementary resource for Gamma Phi’s COD representative on special projects, as requested (i.e. NPC task forces or special committees)
Identify qualified applicants for NPC volunteer roles
Encourage qualified applicants to pursue NPC volunteer opportunities
Expectations
This role requires 1-2 hours per month, on average (increased hours leading up to annual Council of Delegates meeting).
No travel is expected for this role. Any changes in travel expectations will be communicated to volunteers.
Preferred Competencies and Experiences
Strong working knowledge of NPC or experience in legislative efforts
Effective communication skills, with an emphasis on written communication
Ability to develop short- and long-term strategies for new initiatives
Exceptional teamwork skills
Ability to take in information and understand trends
Practice creative, strategic, and generative thinking
Prepared, thoughtful and respectful when taking in information and communicating with others.
