Job Overview
The Chief Operating Officer will provide strategic leadership and operational management for a leading independent specialty group that provides exceptional patient care in the field of urology. Urology Associates has grown to 8 physicians, 5 advanced practice providers and a staff of approximately 50 employees and serves over 30,000 patients annually. The COO is responsible for overseeing daily operations, financial performance, compliance, human resources, and long-term growth strategies across all departments and sites.
The Chief Operating Officer is responsible for partnering with the Board to drive excellent operational execution and efficiency to implement strategic growth of the organization.
Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership
Oversee daily operations across multiple locations, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality patient care.
Develop strong relationships with key strategic partners.
Implement and maintain policies, procedures, and systems to improve efficiency and ensure regulatory compliance (e.g., HIPAA, OSHA).
Manage facility needs, including maintenance, vendor contracts, and IT systems.
Financial Management
Develop and manage the annual operating budget, ensuring profitability and cost efficiency.
Monitor and analyze financial performance, including revenue cycle management, accounts payable/receivable, and key performance indicators (KPI’s).
Work closely with the revenue cycle team to optimize collections and address insurance reimbursements.
Human Resources Management
Supervise and develop the management team and staff, fostering a collaborative and professional work environment.
Lead recruitment, onboarding, training, and retention strategies to maintain a skilled workforce.
Manage employee relations, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
Strategic Planning
Collaborate with physician partners to establish and execute short and long-term business strategies.
Identify opportunities for growth, including adding services, expanding locations, or streamlining processes.
Stay informed about healthcare trends, technology advancements, and market dynamics.
Compliance and Risk Management
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including employment laws and healthcare standards.
Manage liability risks and insurance policies for practice.
Patient Experience
Monitor patient satisfaction metrics and address concerns to ensure a superior patient experience.
Oversee marketing and patient engagement initiatives to maintain and grow the patient base.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field (required).
Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration (MHA) or Business Administration (MBA) preferred.
Experience
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience managing a multi-provider medical practice (urology or specialty preferred).
Proven track record of financial management and operational efficiency in a healthcare setting.
Skills and Competencies
Strong leadership and people skills, with the ability to motivate teams and resolve conflicts.
Expertise in financial management, including budgeting, revenue cycle management, and cost containment.
Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance requirements.
Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and practice management software. EPIC preferred.
Excellent problem solving and decision-making abilities.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $115,000.00 – $175,000.00 per year
