Business Development Manager – Trade Show Exhibits

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities in high-growth trade show verticals such as technology, healthcare, automotive, sports, and luxury travel. This is a hunter role focused on new client acquisition, strategic prospecting, and deal closure. Once a deal is won, the BDM will transition the client to an internal account manager for ongoing relationship management, allowing them to focus on driving new sales.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Strategy & Market Expansion
Develop and execute a targeted sales strategy to break into new verticals within the trade show industry.
Research and identify high-potential companies that regularly exhibit at trade shows.
Build a pipeline of new business opportunities through outbound prospecting, networking, and referrals.
New Business Development & Deal Closure
Establish relationships with key decision makers at leading brands.
Conduct consultative sales meetings to understand client needs and position Gilbert as the ideal partner.
Own the entire sales cycle, from initial outreach to closing the deal.
Negotiate contracts, pricing, and service agreements with new clients.
Industry Engagement & Brand Positioning
Attend key trade shows, networking events, and industry conferences to connect with potential clients.
Stay ahead of trade show trends, competitor offerings, and emerging market opportunities.
Act as a brand ambassador, effectively communicating Gilbert’s value proposition and competitive advantages.
Client handoff & Internal Collaboration
Seamlessly transition new clients to the internal account management team for continued relationship management.
Work closely with design, production, estimating and project management teams to ensure smooth execution of projects.
Provide feedback to internal teams on market needs, pricing strategies, and service enhancements.
Qualifications & Experience
Proven Sales Success – 5+ years of experience in business development, sales within trade show exhibit sales or event planning.
Industry Expertise – Background in event marketing, trade show sales, custom exhibits, or experiential marketing is a plus.
Hunter Mentality – Highly driven, self-motivated, and eager to develop new business.
Strong Negotiation & Closing Skills – Demonstrated ability to lead sales discussions and close high-value deals.
Networking & Relationship Building – Existing network within trade show-heavy industries (tech, healthcare, auto, luxury, sports, F&B, etc.) is a plus.
CRM & Sales Tech Proficiency – Experience using Salesforce, or equivalent CRM platforms to track leads and sales activity.
Flexibility to Travel – Willing to travel to major trade shows and industry events as needed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $83,804.00 – $93,512.00 per year
