Penguin Random House is seeking a Junior Inventory Analyst to join our team in Publishing Operations. In this role, you will be reporting to the Senior Director of the Random House Publishing inventory management group. You will support the entire Adult Publishing inventory team by serving as a liaison between customer service, warehouse, production, and managing editorial departments and personnel. You will be responsible for maintaining and reporting on inventory, print, and sales data to support the Inventory team’s ability to maintain inventory supply for seamless, efficient, and cost-effective order fulfillment. You will be an integral part of the inner workings of supply chain interacting daily with Sales, Production, Customer Service and the Warehouse.
Specific responsibilities include:
Analyze and track inventory activity
Coordinate daily seamless activation of up-priced stock and assure printings are received within the appropriate quantity threshold
Review digital print titles for movement into and out of print on demand programs
Perform in-depth finished good and component inventory analysis to make recommendations regarding potential excess and obsolete inventory disposition
Prepare division-specific monthly excess reviews for Inventory Managers
Track author-signed inventory to ensure supply availability for customer accounts
Analyze production order data to identify prioritization needs and opportunities for delay/cancellation
Liaise with order fulfillment and distribution partners to address customer queries, product quality concerns, and receiving issues related to the timely receipt of books
Partner with Sales to estimate needs for seasonal titles
Create production orders and maintain title notes for backlist reprints
Review sales/POS reports for account or category trends that impact our supply needs generally and, on a title-specific level
Track preorders against account estimates to ensure first print quantities align with projected demand
Manage and organize both scheduled and ad-hoc reporting including First Print Meeting Agendas, Sales Estimate Reviews and Print Ahead trackers

A minimum of 1-2 years of publishing experience preferred
Previous experience in Inventory Management, Sales, or Finance preferred
Excellent analytical skills; comfortability with numbers and data
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Detail oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
Demonstrates the ability to thrive in a deadline driven working environment
Demonstrates the ability to prioritize and proactively and creatively problem solve
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; SAP; Power BI a plus but not required
This position is open to remote candidates.
The salary for this position is $61,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
