Job description
Position Title: Development Director
Reports: Executive Director
Status: Full-Time, Exempt
Work Site: FSC Administrative Office
Summary: The Development Director is responsible for managing and expanding Family Sunshine Center’s (FSC) financial support from individuals, foundations, businesses, and faith-based organizations within our footprint. The Development Director will be required to meet a minimum revenue goal annually with revenue goals increasing each fiscal year. The position will work collaboratively with the Executive Leadership Team to execute and meet the financial goals of the organization. The Development Director must effectively manage the fund development function, while maintaining the positive and ethical public image of FSC.
Responsibilities:
Foster a team culture that is consistent with the organization’s vision, mission, and values.
Collaborate with the Executive Director to create, implement, and oversee a written Annual Fund Development Plan, including outright gifts, pledges, in-kind giving, and special events and campaigns for the agency.
Successfully identify, cultivate, solicit, engage, and steward small, mid-level, and major, gifts from individuals, foundations, businesses, and faith-based organizations.
Assist in the development of the annual fundraising goals for the agency (through the annual budgeting process) in collaboration with the Executive Director and Financial Director, currently set at $600,000.
Schedule and conduct regular donor interactions (correspondence, meetings, visits, etc.) with current and prospective donors.
Research and recommend new events to achieve fundraising goals, as well as raise awareness of the agency’s mission. Develop new strategies to encourage new and increased contributions. Build strategic relationships for FSC to help the agency maintain relevance in the communities served.
Collaborate with the Executive Director, Public Affairs and Development Committee and the Board of Directors to achieve the annual goal.
Meet regularly with the Executive Director and relevant personnel to discuss funding needs and resolutions through funding streams, donations, in-kind gifts and/or volunteers.
Regularly engage with the Executive Director and functional areas of FSC to foster collaborative and healthy working relationships.
Lead, support, and/or facilitate work necessary to accomplish the priorities and objectives in the current strategic plan.
Attend meetings within the agency that are pertinent to stated job responsibilities, including but not limited to staff development and training, Public Affairs and Development Committee, and Board of Directors; monitor and be cognizant of agendas and happenings throughout the agency to determine need to attend other meetings where development is being discussed.
Represent FSC at relevant community meetings and events
Qualifications:
Any combination or training and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in Fundraising, Marketing, Communications, Public Administration, or a related field with Experience in Fundraising.
Demonstrated ability to raise funds.
Strong computer skills in current Microsoft applications to include Outlook, Word, Excel, and PPT; ability to learn and use other computer applications as needed for collaboration with team members and manage projects.
Successful track record of non-profit fund development and/or for-profit sales and sales management.
Demonstrate success in relationship building and management.
Must be organized with the ability to meet deadlines.
Understanding of fundraising budgets.
Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
Exceptional verbal and interpersonal skills.
Experience tracking and reporting fundraising metrics.
Excellent writing, organizational, interpersonal skills.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to work nights and weekends when necessary.
Knowledge of fundraising and event planning for non-profits.
Proficient written and oral communication with the demonstrated ability to write for a specialized audience.
Ability and experience working with a variety of groups (i.e., donors, agencies, community stakeholders, media, non-profit groups) and diverse populations.
Ability to focus and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines with a high degree of proficiency.
Demonstrate excellent organizational and project management skills including the ability to plan, prioritize and complete multiple projects with excellence and attention to detail.
Ability to gather business intelligence on prospective donors within service area.
Knowledge of social media platforms and professional use of those platforms.
Ability to maintain the highest level of professional standards when presenting, guiding meetings, corresponding, and developing printed and web-based material.
Travel Requirements:
Local travel as required for fund development purposes; dependable transportation, valid driver’s license and insurance coverage required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 – $60,000.00 per year
