Fundraising Coordinator

Responsibilities: This role is responsible for developing and executing strategic fundraising campaigns to generate financial support for research, patient services (possibly in the future when we define these), and awareness initiatives focused on KCNA2 and other potassium channel variants/channelopathies diseases often researched with KCNA2. The coordinator will cultivate relationships with donors, managing fundraising events, and advocating for the needs of the patient community, while maintaining a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by individuals living with rare diseases.

Donor Development and Engagement:

Conduct in-depth research on potential donors and their giving interests related to rare diseases.

Manage donor databases to track giving history, engagement levels, and communication preferences.
Fundraising Campaign Management:
Support the enhancement of our FUN RUN campaign that correlates with the discovery date of KCNA2 (August 31, 2012)
Design and implement comprehensive fundraising campaigns aligned with the organization’s strategic goals to sustain itself beyond the CZI grant funding. This can include connecting with our families and corporations to solicit online donation drives in connection with our events, peer-to-peer fundraising, special events, and grant applications.
Develop compelling fundraising materials. This can connect with educational resources such as the NEW FAMILY PACKET, RESEARCH INFORMATION PACKET, FUN RUN PACKET, and any celebration such as Epilepsy Awareness month where we can inform the public and our families and professionals working with our families of updates in KCNA2 research that is new on the web site.
Oversee the logistics and execution of fundraising events, including volunteer recruitment, marketing, and on-site coordination.
Community Outreach and Advocacy:
Collaborate with patient advocacy groups and medical professionals to raise awareness about specific rare diseases.

Investigate policies that relate to rare disease (and possibly disability of a child in general) and inform our board of specific policies that we may want to advocate for in terms of policy changes at the local and national level to improve access to treatment and research for rare disease patients.
Reporting and Analysis:
Track fundraising metrics and analyze campaign performance to identify areas for improvement.
Prepare comprehensive reports for the development team and leadership regarding fundraising progress and donor engagement.
Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in fundraising for rare disease organizations.

Proven experience in fundraising, including donor cultivation, event planning, and grant writing
Strong understanding of the rare disease landscape, patient needs, and research advancements
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with donors, stakeholders, and patient communities
Proficiency in donor management software and data analysis tools. They need to know how to work on the computer and the many apps and programs needed to record this information and share it across the board… AND AT THE SAME TIME, preserve confidentiality and privacy of the information.
Passion for advocating for the rare disease community and commitment to making a positive impact. We need to interview this person and believe we can get along with this person who can work with us, with good communication.
