We are seeking an experienced and proactive Government Relations Officer (GRO) to manage and enhance our organization’s relationships with government entities and regulatory bodies. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of public policy, regulatory frameworks, and the ability to advocate for the organization’s interests while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Government Liaison:
Act as the primary point of contact between the organization and government agencies. Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in government to facilitate communication and collaboration.
Policy Analysis:
Monitor and analyze government policies, regulations, and legislative developments that may impact the organization. Provide insights and recommendations to senior management on relevant issues.
Advocacy:
Develop and implement advocacy strategies to promote the organization’s interests in front of government officials and regulatory bodies. Prepare position papers, briefs, and presentations to support advocacy efforts.
Compliance Management:
Ensure the organization complies with all relevant laws and regulations. Work closely with legal and compliance teams to address regulatory requirements and mitigate risks.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Organize and participate in meetings, forums, and events with government officials and industry associations. Represent the organization at conferences, workshops, and public hearings.
Reporting:
Prepare regular reports on government relations activities, including updates on policy changes, advocacy efforts, and stakeholder interactions. Communicate findings and recommendations to senior leadership.
Crisis Management:
Assist in managing any government-related crises or issues that may arise, providing strategic guidance and support to senior management.
Requirements
Educational Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Administration, International Relations, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.
Professional Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in government relations, public affairs, or a similar role, preferably within logistics industry.
Knowledge and Skills:
Strong understanding of government structures, processes, and public policy.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to build relationships with government officials and stakeholders.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Language Proficiency:
Proficient in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
