This position supports the meaningful efforts to enhance our donors’ experience and connection to Gillette Children’s. The Donor Experience Specialist will develop and implement Gillette philanthropy’s donor experience plan, including personalized outreach, timely acknowledgements, and thoughtful engagement strategies. The position works to cultivate and nurture meaningful relationships and maximize donor retention by ensuring Gillette supporters feel valued and informed about the impact of their gifts.

The Donor Experience Specialist will actively collaborate with the Donor Experience and Campaign Manager and philanthropy team members, as well as colleagues throughout the organization. Outreach to important external constituencies will include major donors, long-time supporters, passionate patient families, foundations, and corporations.

Additionally, the Donor Experience Specialist will engage an assigned portfolio of 75 mid-level donors and prospects to support Gillette Children’s priorities, thoughtfully moving donors through identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities.

This is a hybrid position, with 3 days (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, & Thursdays) in the St Paul, MN office and 2 days remote.

Primary Job Responsibilities

Develop and execute Gillette Philanthropy’s donor experience strategy, to carry out the following activities:
Assists with donor-centric gatherings, experiences, and site visits, including logistics and guest communication.
Partners with the Advancement Services team to maintain accurate donor information and develop procedures and documentation for tracking gifts and stewardship processes in the Raiser’s Edge database and related information sources.
Develops stewardship outreach for donors which may include gift follow-up, personalized communication, and recognition.
Collaborates with the MarComm team to create engaging donor communications, such as newsletters, patient and donor features, appeals, social media content and fundraising collateral.
Assists Donor Experience and Campaign Manager with projects and priorities related to major fundraising campaign, including campaign specific stewardship initiatives, events, impact reporting, campaign communications, etc.
Fosters collaborative partnerships with organization-wide partners to support the delivery of donor experience programs.
Identifies best practices, industry standards and makes recommendations to improve procedures and systems related to a comprehensive donor experience program.
Actively manages portfolio of donors and prospects.
Maintain regular contact with assigned donors through personalized emails, phone calls, and handwritten notes to understand their motivations and philanthropic interests.
Utilizes established Moves Management approach to strengthen donor relationships.
Manages his/her own portfolio to contribute to the overall fundraising goals of the Foundation.

Qualifications

Required

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
2 years’ experience in a similar role

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Effective verbal and written communication skills – writing, editing, listening, etc.
Strong interpersonal skills: ability to work well under pressure with a variety of personalities and demands, and to succeed in a variety of social settings
Strong project management and organizational skills: ability to meet deadlines while maintaining good relations with colleagues
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with donors and staff across various departments
Ability to network effectively and establish long-term, meaningful relationships
Comfortable managing multiple projects, priorities and deadlines
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook), data management systems, and willingness to learn and employ new tools and technologies as required
High level of integrity; ability to maintain confidentiality with donor/constituent information; adherence to Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Code of Ethical Conduct
Strong appreciation for all aspects of a diverse community

Preferred

2 years Donor Experience and/or Donor Relations experience
