Position Description:

The Major Gifts Associate will work closely with the Director of Major Gifts and other development staff to advance Foster Love’s mission by cultivating relationships with high-value donors. This role focuses on donor stewardship, prospect research, and creating tailored engagement strategies. As a key member of the Major Gifts team, the Major Gifts Associate ensures that donors experience meaningful interactions with the organization, deepening their connection to Foster Love’s work.

This position will require exceptional writing skills, strong project management capabilities, time management, and the ability to engage in thoughtful donor communication. The Major Gifts Associate will manage various aspects of the fundraising cycle, including crafting donor-facing materials, maintaining accurate records, and supporting strategic campaigns and events.

Principal Responsibilities:

Assist the Director of Major Gifts in stewarding and expanding a portfolio of major donors, including individuals, family foundations, and donor-advised funds.
Conduct in-depth prospect research to identify and prioritize potential donors aligned with Foster Love’s mission.
Draft compelling donor correspondence, including solicitation outreach, letters, acknowledgment notes, and impact storytelling.
Collaborate with program staff to develop tailored donor proposals, and updates that align with donor interests.
Manage the donor pipeline and track moves management using Foster Love’s donor management system. (ZoHo)
Support donor engagement initiatives, including organizing events, managing invitations, and coordinating follow-up.
Assist in planning regional fundraising events, donor events, and cultivation opportunities.
Develop and manage a calendar of donor communication touchpoints, ensuring timely follow-up and regular engagement.
Provide administrative support, including data entry, database maintenance, and report generation for the Major Gifts team.
Contribute to cross-departmental efforts to build a culture of philanthropy within the organization.
Work collaboratively with the Marketing team to develop donor-facing materials, event collateral, and social media content.

Qualifications:

3-5 years of experience in fundraising, nonprofit development, or a related field.
Strong writing and editing skills with experience creating donor-facing materials.
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in donor management software and tools such as Google Workspace, Asana, and Slack.
Proven experience conducting prospect research and tracking donor moves management.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with high-value donors and stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
Commitment to Foster Love’s mission and a passion for supporting foster youth.
Knowledge of professional fundraising standards and practices, including familiarity with donor stewardship and solicitation strategies.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in event planning or donor engagement strategy.
Knowledge of the foster care system or child welfare initiatives.

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary Range: $79,000 – $100,000 annually.

Location:This is a hybrid position based in Brea, CA, with opportunities for remote work. Occasional travel within the U.S. may be required to support regional fundraising events and donor engagement.
