This role would require you to be local to Cleveland, Ohio due to the nature of this role.
The Role
This isn’t just another business development role—it’s a key driver of Marcus Thomas’ growth. As the Business Development Manager, you’ll act as an internal account manager, ensuring our pitch process is organized, compelling, and seamless—just like the work we deliver to clients.
You’re the glue that keeps everything moving—bringing together creative minds, strategists, and leadership to craft powerful presentations, proposals, and pitches. You thrive in fast-paced environments, juggling multiple priorities while keeping the team engaged and aligned. Beyond execution, you help shape the agency’s story. From refining our brand messaging and pitch materials to strengthening relationships across teams, your work directly fuels our growth.

Responsibilities
Own the business development process – Manage both the big picture and day-to-day details, keeping pitches, presentations, and marketing efforts moving forward.
Lead RFP and RFI development – Partner with subject matter experts to create clear, compelling proposals that showcase Marcus Thomas’ strengths.
Shape pitch materials – Research prospective clients, gather insights, and develop background materials that set us apart.
Be the glue that holds everything together – From kickoff meetings to final presentations, ensure that every stage of the pitch process is seamless and organized.
Keep our assets up to date – Maintain and refine new business materials, case studies, and data to ensure we’re always ready to pitch.
Facilitate meetings and communication – Schedule and coordinate team meetings, craft agendas, and manage follow-ups to ensure everyone is aligned.
Develop engaging client outreach – Oversee thoughtful, strategic client communications, including presentations, digital content, and films.
Manage timelines and priorities – Keep internal deadlines, milestones, and next steps on track, making sure nothing falls through the cracks.
Ensure transparency in opportunities – Track and report on new business efforts across the agency, keeping leadership informed.
Foster collaboration across teams – Build trust and partnership among internal stakeholders, from creative and PR to media and office services.
Support ongoing agency marketing efforts – Contribute to agency branding through email campaigns, social media, newsletters, and other marketing initiatives.
Experience & Qualifications
3+ years of agency experience, ideally in account management, with a track record of growth.
A deep understanding of how agencies operate and a passion for immersing yourself in the work.
Insatiably curious and highly collaborative – You love learning, solving problems, and building strong relationships across teams.
Ability to handle multiple projects at once while staying organized, calm under pressure, and adaptable to shifting priorities.
Tools
Proficiency in PowerPoint – You know how to build and refine presentations that make an impact.
Experience with InDesign (a plus) – You have an eye for design and can work within creative tools.
Familiarity with Salesforce (a plus) – You understand CRM and business development tracking tools.
