SUMMARY
We are seeking a creative, collaborative and detail-oriented Marketing & Communications Specialist to support our organization’s digital presence and division’s administrative functions. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and passionate about storytelling and helping animals.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Working in close collaboration with the Marketing Manager and the Marketing & Communications team, the Marketing & Communications Specialist will:
Support content creation and community management across all social media channels, while taking primary ownership of content strategy and engagement for Blue Sky, TikTok, Neighbors, LinkedIn, and other channels as requested.
Capture photos and video content to support marketing and fundraising initiatives.
Manage volunteer photography and ambassador programs.
Create and deploy email campaigns for multiple audiences.
Update content on Pasadena Humane website.
Assist with digital fundraising campaign management and donor requests.
Create temporary signage, hang flyers and update digital signage boards.
Assist with graphic design such as presentations, updating flyer templates and basic social media graphics.
Manage department ordering, including printing, swag, and office supplies.
Process department invoices and maintain a budget tracker.
Track and report monthly department KPIs.
Coordinate quarterly marketing meeting.
Collect department mail and receive deliveries.
Manage incoming inquiries via media@, news@ and marketing@ inboxes.
Provide support to all team members in the Marketing & Communications division.
Regularly participate in industry learning opportunities to grow communications skills, knowledge of animal welfare and network with colleagues doing similar work at the local and national level.
Uphold Pasadena Humane Society’s mission and contribute to building a culture of philanthropy.
Ensure a safe working environment and actively participate in PHS safety programs.
Participate as needed in special department projects.
Work as a team member with other departmental managers.
Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
One to three years of proven experience working in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field. Nonprofit and/or animal welfare experience preferred.
Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, from an accredited four-year college or university in communications or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Professional knowledge of social media platforms, email marketing CRMs, web content management systems, and online fundraising platforms. Preferred experience with Mailchimp, WordPress, and Classy (or comparable systems)
Strong writing and editing skills with an emphasis on accuracy and clarity.
Basic photography, videography and graphic design skills. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud a plus.
Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholders effectively.
Highly motivated, well organized and detail oriented; a self-starter who can take accountability and ownership of projects, while not being afraid to ask for help.
A willingness to learn and quickly adopt new technologies.
Strong passion for helping animals.
WORK SCHEDULE
The schedule for this position is Tuesday through Saturday. This is a hybrid position with the ability to regularly work from home 1 to 2 days a week. This position regularly requires early morning, evening, weekend, and holiday work.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Fast-paced environment. Employees are exposed to numerous animals (live and deceased), including those with uncertain dispositions. They are required to act in a safe and responsible manner.

Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
