Job Description

Position Title: Marketing & Community Outreach Specialist Status: Non-exempt Date: February 2025

Primary Purpose: Serve as the specialist for the marketing department and community outreach initiatives. Facilitating the strategic marketing plan to expand the organization’s external reach, produce recognition for Liberty Dogs Foundation (LDF) in the local and national community, create and maintain digital and multimedia assets, deploy and refine internal and external communication processes, conduct and coordinate outreach initiatives and partnerships within the community. Reports to the Director of Administration.

Essential Duties/Functions:

1. Marketing needs:

A. Social media – create content, schedule, and manage social media activity on multiple platforms. Provide weekly and/or monthly reports detailing analytics, metrics, and needs to the Director of Administration.

B. Newsletters – design, coordinate content, distribute, increase reach, and track metrics.

C. Website – develop and expand LDF’s web presence via email, web advertising, eCommerce management, and other online sources to promote brand recognition. Utilize current trends and data to keep content updated, staying current with latest technology and applications to maintain a high standard of quality that keeps pace with audience expectations. Provide weekly and/or monthly reports detailing analytics and metrics. Deploy Search Engine Optimization (SEO) strategies to further expand visibility.

D. Multi-media management – create, collect, and archive text, photos, audio, and video for multiple communication mediums (online media, print media, direct mail, and other multi-media mediums, etc.)

E. Salesforce – contribute to the build, development strategies, and deployment of organizational CRM. Conduct outcome reviews and reassessments for continual improvements.

F. Communications – Assist Director of Administration with initiative relating to internal and external-facing programs. Establish, implement, and evaluate goals for the marketing department and community outreach program.

2. Community Outreach needs:

A. Conduct strategic outreach to raise awareness of the LDF mission and services provided to Veterans with disabilities.

B. Work in concert with staff from the Canine and Veteran Program departments to educate and serve our target market.

C. Build partnerships with community, business, and organizational stakeholders to gain recognition and visibility for the program brand.

D. Identify cross-promotional opportunities.

E. Proactively drive projects and campaigns from concept to completion, working closely with the marketing team, the Director of Administration, and other departments as necessary.

3. Event Planning/Coordination:

A. Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of events held within the LDF campus and at external venues. Coordinating LDF staff and event vendors to achieve successful events.

Other Duties:

4. Monitor external communications and requests.

5. Provide advertising and marketing collateral support for all departments, as needed.

6. Proficient public speaking and presenting about the Liberty Dogs mission and vision.

7. Work with outside creative agencies, members of the media, printers, web designers, to develop content, accept or reject material, and ensure materials are developed on time and within budget.

8. Attend and participate in mandatory departmental and facility-wide meetings. Attend educational training/seminars as recommended/approved.

9. Communicate and participate in disaster preparedness and response activities for the facilities as it pertains to Veterans, staff, guests, and dog-related needs.

10. Adhere to emergency response plans (fire, power outage, earthquake, active shooter, bomb threat, etc.) for staff, guests, and Veterans.

11. Understand infectious disease controls defined by the organization and assist with any actions taken to protect Veterans, guests, staff, and dogs alike.

12. Communicate with the Director of Administration on relevant issues, keeping them informed in a timely manner.

13. Present a positive and professional image of Liberty Dogs to the public.

14. Perform other duties assigned by the Director of Administration.

Working Conditions: Air-conditioned office with computer and internet access and indoors/outdoors with Veterans and Service Dogs. May be required to attend events and other venues in a working capacity. Occasionally requires travel to and from facility for various errands.

Equipment Use: Standard office equipment such as telephone, computers, printers, copier, and scanners. Also, knowledge of how to use photography, videography, and backup equipment is important. May require the use of personal and company vehicles.

Work Hours: This is an hourly position that requires flexibility. A typical workweek is 40 hours per week and may include weekends. Attendance at events and other functions, and/or emergencies may require overtime hours or evening work. Attend conferences, community resource fairs, special events and staff company booth.

Mental Demands: Requires the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and handle high stress levels. The position requires excellent organizational skills, as well as a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Must have sound judgment and self-confidence to handle decision-making. Must be able to meet deadlines. Must be a team player. Requires courteous and professional demeanor when interacting with staff and others. Requires the ability to be self-disciplined and self-motivated. Must have the ability to create a team and cooperative environment amongst the marketing department as well as other departments including LDF volunteers. Requires a working understanding of the readjustment issue with Veterans including post-traumatic stress (PTS), traumatic brain injury (TBI), military sexual trauma (MST), and other brain injuries.

Physical Demands: While this position involves desk and computer work, it also will require being on your feet for extended periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, use hands to handle tools and controls, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, talk, and listen. Must be able to work at a fast and efficient pace. May be required to attend events for networking purposes, present the program in a positive manner as a representative of LDF.

Qualification Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or Communications (with a focus on multimedia applications) or equivalent work experience.

· 2-3 years’ experience in marketing principles and strategies.

· 2-3 years’ experience in Salesforce, Sprout Social (or similar social media management software), SharePoint, Form Assembly, Canva (or similar) Vimeo, and other creative and management software applications.

· 3-5 years’ experience or knowledge of the non-profit/foundation industry.

· Experience in photography (headshots, action shots, etc.), videography, and filmmaking. Must be proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud software applications, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.) products, and experience with photo/video editing programs.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills that may include public speaking and presentations.

· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Proficiency with Google Analytics and/or other web analytical tools.

· Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and web design.

· Experience with orchestrating the development of marketing collateral (print and online) and multiple marketing channels/platforms simultaneously (e.g. email, social media, events, etc.).

· Experience working collaboratively with a creative department to conceive, create, and deliver outstanding creative communications products.

· Experience collaborating with teams to develop effective local and national marketing campaigns with measurable results.

· Valid driver’s license with clean driving and criminal abstract.

· Participate in post-offer background check and drug test.

Pay: $45,000.00 – $65,000.00 per year
