A Day in the Life
Developing and Implementing Communication Strategies:
Create an integrated strategic communications plan for the Regional Food Bank to enhance its brand identity, increase awareness of programs and engage key external collaborators and inspire the public.
Identify challenges and emerging issues faced by the organization and communicate responses/key messages broadly or to intended target audience.
PR and Marketing Planning:
Develop and maintain a strategic PR and marketing plan.
Oversee the placement of purchased and in-kind advertising.
Prioritize media opportunities and prepare necessary materials like talking points, speeches and presentations.
Conduct media training with key spokespeople.
Interact with other departments to ensure consistent messaging and branding.
Crisis and Disaster Management:
Develop, maintain and execute crisis communication plan when necessary.
Develop, maintain and execute disaster communications plans when necessary.
Serve as a spokesperson during media interactions as needed.
Content Management:
Oversee the development of the Regional Food Bank’s communications and content.
Proofread all external facing public documents, including, but not limited to emails and eNewsletters, brochures, presentations and others to ensure correct tone, grammar and messaging.
Engaging Collaborators:
Conduct facility tours as needed and speak to donors and groups.
Update and maintain impact reports and wrap-ups for all campaigns.
Ensure compliance with Feeding America’s marketing guidelines for letters, signage, banners, website, etc.
Visual Branding and Video Production:
Oversee the design, production and fleet graphics.
Manage all video production.
Contract Management:
Oversee and negotiate contracts related to marketing and communication.
Leadership Responsibilities
Oversees 3 to 5 staff.
Guide, shape and inspire divisional vision, employee engagement and effective participation in organizational planning and coordination.
Work with staff to establish annual program work plans, including goals, priorities, activities and performance metrics to achieve organization targets.
Supervise, develop, motivate and evaluate staff.
Partner with other departments to implement organizational priorities.
Participate with executive leadership team in organizational development and strategic planning activities. Ensure that established goals are met or exceeded.
Empower and train staff to work effectively and respectfully with the partner network.
Required Qualifications
How you have spent your time:
Obtaining a bachelors degree in a relevant field.
Working for at least 4 years in a relevant field.
Working in a leadership role for at least 5 years.
Managing a diverse workforce.
Other Requirements:
Adept in Associated Press writing style.
Preferred Qualifications
How you have spent your time:
Doing public relations for non-profits.
Gaining your accreditation in public relations.
Your Environment
Environmentally controlled with no exposure to extreme changes in the weather, and limited exposure to humidity/moisture relative to atmospheric condition variations. No exposure to dust, chemicals, gases, fumes, smoke, excessive noise and/or vibrations. Work generally performed in an office environment. Travel may be required for assignments, meetings and training. Weekend and/or holiday hours may be required.
Physical Demands
The company will provide reasonable accommodation to qualified individuals with disabilities. Utilize multi-limb coordination and flexibility combined with control precision to perform fine motor skills including: finger manipulation, grasping, feeling, arm-hand steadiness, in order to push, pull or lift objects. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Utilizes multi-limb coordination to balance on even surfaces, stoop, kneel, stand, and walk, reach over shoulders or below the knees. Must employ the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by the companys Environmental, Health and Safety policies.
