SUMMARY

The Marketing and Communications Manager works with the Senior Officers and the rest of the Fund Development staff to

implement fundraising initiatives. This position provides support to the CEO and supervises the Donor

Management Coordinator.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Functions as a YWCA leader by actively promoting the YWCA’s mission, inspiring a shared

vision, modeling YWCA’s ethics and values, encouraging others to be their best, embracing

innovation and looking forward toward the future of the YWCA

Sets and models standard for and monitors conduct of supervised programs to ensure that

position competencies and YWCA policy, ethics, and values are fully implemented.

Develops work plans and assigns priorities for staff in alignment with agency strategic plan.
Actively participates in Leadership Team, staff meetings, and scheduled internal trainings
Ensures staff compliance with continuing education requirements.
Works with Human Resources to recruit, interview, hire, train, coach, support, discipline and

evaluate program staff.

Works with Fund Development staff to execute all aspects of the Annual Celebration Luncheon,

Glam that Gives, and Domestic Violence Awareness Month along with other smaller events

throughout the year. This includes but not limited to securing event venues and appropriate

permitting, pre-event distribution of marketing and advertising materials, kick-off events, delivery

of sponsor benefits, and contracting with vendors under the supervision of the CEO.

Fearlessly asks for donations on behalf of the YWCA
Serves as agency liaison to the Associate Board and staffs events/meetings as needed
Researches grants for the CEO and assists in the writing and compiling of accompanying

data/documents and delivery of grants

Partners with the Donor Management Coordinator to design agency communications, including

e-news and the annual report

Manages the Grant Database to ensure timely submission of all proposals in coordination with

the CEO

Writes and curates engaging, mission-focused content for agency social media, including but

not limited to Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram

Tracks progress towards annual fundraising goal
Oversees production of all marketing materials for events and promotions
Performs general administrative responsibilities including but not limited to data entry, events

committee meeting and grant application preparations

Partners with the Donor Management Coordinator to prepare and maintain accurate

records/data reports to evaluate and manage events

Solicitation of event sponsors and securement of in-kind donations of goods and services
Implements and tracks contacts with community partners when the YWCA is the beneficiary of

gifts or proceeds from an event

Works to build a connection to the YWCA through the process of soliciting gifts, communicating

effectively, and recognizing community partners to ensure maximum fundraising effectiveness

and to facilitate sustainable donor relationship

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position supervises the Donor Management Coordinator. As a supervisor, this position is

responsible for carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies

and applicable laws. These responsibilities include staff development, training, supervision,

consultation, and performance evaluation. This position designs and develops the roles of supervised

staff and directs and redirects their works, as needed. This position resolves staff conflicts and/or

challenges as they arise.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

A combination of two to four years education or experience in special events and/or fund development.

Experience in non-profit fundraising preferred.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Must have the ability to transport self in and around Pierce County. If that includes driving own

vehicle then must possess current and valid driver’s license and insurance

Must be comfortable driving vehicle’s other than own for events, including U-Haul trucks
Acceptable criminal history record

Completion of Domestic Violence Victim Services training within first year of employment

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit. The employee is

occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms;

climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift

and/or move up to 40 pounds. Special vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color

vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
