Marketing Manager (Part-Time)

We are looking for an experienced marketing/publicity professional who is enthusiastic about academic and nonfiction publishing and has a desire to be part of a fast-growing company. As a marketing manager with Flatpage, you will focus on marketing for our editorial agency and publishing house by assisting in the strategizing and implementation of client outreach, email and advertising campaigns, and book promotion.

The ideal candidate should possess excellent communication skills and have extensive networks in the field of corporate content marketing, an area that represents future growth for our editorial business. We are seeking ambitious self-starters who are excited to grow with our company; knowledge of the editorial and publishing industry is welcome but not required.

This is a part-time position, where you’ll be expected to work approximately 10-20 hours per week. This role is remote with flexible hours and the successful candidate will be required to attend biweekly virtual meetings with the executive team. Candidates must be physically located in the United States to be considered.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with Flatpage’s executives to strategize marketing and promotional campaigns aimed to increase our client base and sell our books
Outreach to potential clients, including emails and virtual and/or in-person pitch meetings to explain our services, particularly oriented toward corporate, government, and nonprofit clients
Strategize and suggest content marketing related to our services, including on our blog, Column
Draft and coordinate design for advertising campaigns in tandem with our design team and utilizing our branding strategy
Managing our social media accounts, including LinkedIn and Meta platforms
Draft and schedule email newsletters using a template design
Develop and implement promotional strategies, including booking events, coordinating social media campaigns, and direct outreach
Report to Flatpage’s executives in regular virtual meetings
Collaborate with Flatpage’s team using a productivity platform called Basecamp, including managing projects and participating in active discussions to ensure effective communication.
Other responsibilities as needed

Requirements:

Advanced degree in media, communications, business administration or a related field
Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in marketing
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, both within a team and with external collaborators/clients
Wide network in corporate marketing and communications or other fields that offer potential clients for our editorial services
Proven track record of acquiring new clients and boosting sales
Experience managing social media and building an online presence
Basic design skills using software such as InDesign, Canva, and MailChimp
Ability to adapt to and utilize productivity platforms, including Basecamp
Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Enthusiasm for being part of a growing team and desire for long-term collaboration

Desired Skills:

Familiarity with the editorial and publishing markets
Knowledge of marketing analysis tools and applications

Hours and Compensation:

This position requires approximately 10-20 hours per week, with opportunity for future growth. Although this position is remote, the person in this position may be required to attend virtual calls with our chief editor during working hours, primarily in the morning EST. The rate of compensation will be discussed during the initial interview.
