About Harmony House
Harmony House provides shelter, advocacy, and education to domestic violence survivors. In addition to our emergency shelter, prevention education, and outreach programs, Harmony House partners with Springfield and Republic Police Departments and the Greene County Family Justice Center to support domestic violence victims as early as possible in multiple locations. We believe robust, wrap-around support services have a long-term impact to break the cycle of domestic violence.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Marketing and Communications Director reports directly to the Executive Director and is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive marketing, communications, and digital engagement strategy that enhances Harmony House’s brand, increases awareness about domestic violence, and drives donor, volunteer, and community engagement. This position oversees all public relations, content creation, website management, social media, and donor communication efforts to ensure consistent messaging that aligns with the organization’s mission and goals.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Marketing and Communications Director is responsible leading an integrated marketing, digital media, and donor engagement strategy that includes:
· Expanding community awareness about domestic violence and Harmony House’s impact.
· Developing fundraising communicating strategies to support donor retention and engagement.
· Growing Harmony House’s digital presence, social media audience, and website performance.
· Enhancing brand visibility through public relations, storytelling and media outreach.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Develop, implement and evaluate a comprehensive annual marketing and communications plan that enhances Harmony House’s brand, increases awareness about domestic violence, and drives donor engagement, volunteer recruitment and community.
· Oversee the creation, distribution, and maintenance of all print and digital materials, including newsletter, brochures, and website content, ensuring consistency in messaging and brand identity.
· Manage and regularly update the Harmony House website with current and compelling news, stories, events, and resources while serving as the primary liaison with the website vendor.
· Monitor and analyze website traffic using Analytics and other tracking tools to assess performance and effectiveness, providing regular reports to the Executive Director.
· Oversee and maintain a strong, consistent social media presence across platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and others, developing strategies to grow engagement and reach.
· Establish and manage relationships with media outlets to ensure ongoing public relations efforts, keeping domestic violence awareness at the forefront and promoting key events and initiatives.
· Develop and maintain an annual messaging schedule for the LED sign, ensuring it is regularly updated with relevant and impactful content.
· Plan and execute ongoing donor communications, including email campaigns, print materials and engagement events to build and strengthen relationship with key supporters.
· Oversee messaging and creative direction for the Annual Giving Campaign mailer to ensure consistency with donor engagement strategies.
· Collaborate with the Development Director to provide marketing and communications support for major Harmony House events, including iCare and the Purple Party.
· Lead the Giving Tuesday campaign, developing and implementing a targeted social media and digital fundraising strategy to maximize donor participation.
· Produce and distribute the Annual Report each January, ensuring it effectively highlights the impact and achievements of Harmony House.
· Manage and promote the Voices Against Violence blog and podcast, overseeing content updates on the website, streaming platforms, and social media to increase visibility and engagement.
· Provide marketing and communications support other Harmony House initiatives as needed.
· Assist the Executive Director with agency-wide communications as requested.
· Perform additional duties as assigned to support the overall mission and strategic goals of Harmony House.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations or other related fields is preferred.
At least five years previous successful marketing/communications experience is required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, public relations skills, and the ability to work effectively with media, staff, volunteers, community organizations and more.

Physical Requirements:
· Perform bending, squatting, sorting, kneeling, and reaching to ground level and overhead as required for tasks as retrieving files.
· Ability to lift, grasp, carry, push, or pull up to 15 pounds
· Ability to climb stairs while carrying objects up to 10 pounds in weight
· Must be able to hold and grip objects
· May be subject to sitting for long periods of time
· Visual ability sufficient to operate a computer

1. MUST have a current / valid driver’s license and current / valid motor vehicle liability insurance. Harmony House does NOT provide insurance coverage for the employee’s liability while using personal autos on agency business.
2. MUST pass criminal background checks.
3. MUST pass a 5-panel drug test.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $58,000.00 – $61,000.00 per year
