GENERAL NATURE OF WORK
The Digital Media Specialist is responsible for developing, managing and optimizing the County’s digital media presence to enhance communication, engagement and public awareness. This role involves creating compelling content, managing social media accounts and overseeing website updates for both internal and external communications. An employee in this class will have strong creative and technical skills in digital media, analytics and content creation, with a passion for sharing the stories of Kenton County’s employees and its community.
This position reports directly to the Communications Manager.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to lift twenty (20) pounds or more to a height of four (4) feet or more.
Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Eye sight must be correctable to 20/20 vision. Hearing must be within normal acceptable range of 20-25 with or without a hearing aid.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Develop and manage digital content across social media platforms websites and email newsletters.
Create engaging graphics, videos, and written content for public communication initiatives.
Ensure brand consistency and alignment with County messaging and policies.
Develop and implement social media campaigns to promote county services, events, and initiatives.
Utilize analytics tools (Google Analytics, social media insights, etc.) to measure engagement and effectiveness.
Work closely with various county departments to support their digital communication needs.
Assist in organizing and promoting events, public meetings, and community outreach programs.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging digital communication technologies.
Other related duties as assigned.
DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Strong understanding of social media algorithms, trends and best practices.
Proficiency in graphic design tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) and video editing software.
Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
Demonstrated ability to execute projects independently with limited supervision
Ability to establish effective and harmonious working relationships with other employees and the general public.
Ability to communicate effectively with the Fiscal Court, employees, citizens and media.
Ability to work under general supervision.
DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Graduate of a four year college or university with a degree in communications, marketing, journalism, English, public administration or related field in development and implementation of communications; or, any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
