About the Job
We are looking for an outgoing and confident individual to join our team, serving as Marketing and Communications Lead. This position works in collaboration with the business owner and other department managers to plan and execute an effective marketing strategy. Key responsibilities include managing a company-wide advertising budget, social media management and content creation, networking with current advertising partners and developing new relationships. Other duties include designing and developing signage, copywriting, blogging and updating websites.
The ideal candidate is creative and collaborative with exceptional communication skills and a passion for plants and gardening. This is not a remote position.
Key Responsibilities:
Track budget and prioritize funds across various advertising channels, including print, TV, radio and social
Collaborate with management team to develop an effective marketing strategy with actionable goals to increase brand awareness and community engagement
Manage social media accounts (primarily Facebook and Instagram), creating engaging content while monitoring comments and messages
Photograph plant material and promote relevant plants, sales, and specials
Maintain relationships with advertising partners and network potential new connections
Design and develop all signage for retail, nursery and landscaping departments
Compose ad copy for radio and weekly e-newsletters
Write and publish educational blog posts
Update websites as needed and manage SEO
Assist with basic office administration duties including phone calls, emails, inquiries, filing etc.
Promote all job openings and manage applications
Requirements:
Experience with social media management and digital advertising. Demonstrated ability to increase social media engagement and drive web traffic
Comfortable operating WordPress, Publisher, Photoshop, Canva and mass email software
Understanding of basic design principles and ability to create eye-catching content
Proficiency in business communications with a working knowledge of PR principles and best practices
Excellent writing and editing skills
Knowledge of plant material and/or a willingness to learn
Ability to manage your own time and prioritize a busy workload
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations or similar field preferred.

Over the years, our landscaping business grew and we began to see the need to open our own retail garden center to better serve our clients. Blooms Garden Center and Gift Shop opened in 2017. We carry annuals, vegetables, herbs, perennials, grasses, shrubs, evergreens and trees. The Gift Shop is filled with unique gifts, handmade goods, houseplants and home and garden décor.
