Media Communications Intern

Alliance Defending Freedom is looking for a highly motivated unpaidMedia Communications Internto join us in our Washington, DC Office preferred or from a remotehome officeto receive school credit. As the Media Communications Intern, you are a vital part of the Media &AdvocacyCommunications team. In this role, you will report to the Director of Media Relations and will be tasked with assisting the Media Specialists, attending media training sessions with attorneys and clients, and having the opportunity to write pitches.

The intern will also assist in other public relations projects and events. This internship provides a great introduction to the public relations world for someone who is considering exploring a career in public relations, policy, or law.

In this position, you will:

Attend media training sessions with attorneys and clients

Assist in creating Media Kits

Assist in building Press Lists

Research and flag relevant articles for pitching opportunities

Summarize news of the day

Monitor media inbox and the news cycle

Assist with scheduling media meetings and interviews

Assist with getting approval on press statements

Other Responsibilities (Non-Essential):

You will be asked to perform related duties or special projects as assigned.

Skills you need to succeed:

Knowledge of:

Journalism, public policy, law, government, public relations, or strategic communications

Demonstrated proficiency in:

Strongattention to detail

Strong interpersonal relationship building

Strong creativity

Ability to:

Be a team player

Be flexible with many changing demands

Work, motivate, and initiate within a team and independently

Education and/or experience:

Current college student interested in journalism, media, or communications work

Must receive college credit for the internship
