Overview of Role
The Animal Services Content Specialist primary focus is to enhance the promotion of New Leash’s adoptable dogs and act as a liaison to help share content between the Development Department and Animal Services department. As the Animal Services Content Specialist, you will be responsible for gathering relevant information of our rescue dogs, providing weekly updates and photos to the social media team, and crafting promotional materials such as adoption and event flyers. The Content Specialist will be responsible for developing informative articles, social media, and other marketing materials that promote our Development Department and educate our audience about our Animal Services.
Responsibilities
Compile content regarding rescue
Must be proficient in or learn the animal software, or any software used by the organization for all foster, adoption, animal-related data including but not limited to Shelterluv, Petfinder, Rescue.org, Maddie’s Pet Assistant App
Provide weekly animal updates in ShelterLuv on all dogs for use on social media, grants and dog sponsorship updates
Take weekly photos and videos of program dogs
Collect and upload and label photos into Flickr
Create adoption and sponsorship digital flyers
Post adoptable dogs on various adoption websites
Compile and/or update dog information from adopters and fosters to be used in dog success stories and social media
Ensure information on dogs is sent to the appropriate person to post on social media
Ensure social media person is informed of emergency dog medical situations
Attend dog training workshops at multiple prisons
Additional assignments as needed
Screen adoption applications and schedule adoption meets on a timely basis
Attend events with Supervisor or Animal Services Advocate and take or compile photos
Assist with giving dog meds
Transport dog to vet appointments
Facilitate Basic Animal Care workshops as a substitute
Ideal person
Proven experience in content creation or copywriting, preferably in the pet care or animal welfare.
Strong knowledge of animal care practices including , kennel management, and dog training.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a focus on customer service, and social media audience.
Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary (e.g., handling large dogs or equipment).
Familiarity with digital marketing tools and social media platforms.
A background as a veterinary technician or experience in a veterinary setting is a plus but not required.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential for managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Pay: $24,000.00 – $26,000.00 per year
