The Opportunity
The Internal Communication Specialist is a creative and proactive communicator responsible for developing and executing engaging and motivating communications strategies across both casino properties. This role focuses on providing Associates with timely, relevant, and effective communication through multiple channels. The Internal PR Specialist will ensure the communication strategy aligns with company goals, incorporates feedback loops, and actively engages Associates at all levels.
What You Get to Do
Develop and implement a comprehensive internal communication strategy that drives engagement, aligns with company objectives, and fosters a positive Associate experience.
Create and distribute various communication materials such as newsletters, emails, video clips, and podcasts to keep Associates informed and motivated.
Coordinate the production of creative content (written, video, and audio) for internal messaging and campaigns, with an emphasis on clear, concise, and engaging messaging.
Work with leadership to ensure key messages are communicated effectively, both internally and externally, through appropriate channels.
Develop a feedback loop to measure the effectiveness of communication strategies and make adjustments to ensure messages are reaching and resonating with Associates.
Partner with all departments to ensure consistency in messaging and that communication strategies align with overall company objectives.
Take initiative to ensure timely and effective communication by actively disseminating information across all channels, ensuring that key messages reach Associates efficiently and in a way that resonates with them.
Manage relationships with internal stakeholders, including department heads and senior leadership, to ensure the communication plan aligns with business needs.
Lead creative brainstorming sessions to continually innovate and find new ways to engage Associates.
Measure and present results of communication efforts to assess effectiveness and refine strategies.
Stay informed of communication trends, digital tools, and technology to enhance internal messaging.
Serve as the point of contact for all internal communication-related inquiries and issues.
Regularly spend time at both casino properties to engage with Associates directly and stay informed about operations. Attend various meetings across departments to ensure alignment of communication strategies with on-the-ground realities.
Perform other departmental duties assigned to contribute to the overall success and efficiency of the team.

What Qualifies You
Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or related field.
At least 3 years of experience in communications, public relations, or media relations, preferably in a corporate or hospitality environment.
Proven experience creating engaging content, including podcasts and videos.
Must be able to secure a license from Gaming Regulatory Authority (GRA).
Responsible for following all relevant Detailed Gaming Regulations (DGR’s).
Mille Lacs Band Member and American Indian preference will be exercised in the hiring process.
Must Have Skills
Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to adapt content to various formats.
Ability to think creatively and work independently, while also collaborating across departments.
Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
A strong Associate-first mindset, with an ability to connect with Associates at all levels.
Experience with social media, media relations, and crisis communication preferred.
Familiarity with multimedia production tools and content management systems is a plus.
