SHE-CAN (Supporting Her Education Changes A Nation) is seeking a full-time Development Manager to join our growing team in Mill Valley. Reporting to the CEO, the Development Manager’s responsibilities include spearheading our fundraising and development efforts, collaborating on the annual SHE-CAN gala and working with the Chief Philanthropy Officer to support the organization’s mission.

About SHE-CAN

SHE-CAN is a global non-profit organization that builds female global leadership in post-conflict countries. We help passionate young leaders win scholarships to U.S. colleges and universities, provide leadership training, and pair them with U.S. mentor teams who help them thrive in college and launch change-agent careers at home. To date, we have helped 133 young women from Rwanda, Cambodia, Liberia, and Guatemala win $40M+ in full scholarships at top U.S. colleges.

When fully staffed, the organization has 15 full-time employees and four in-country Coordinators. There are seven members of the Board of Directors. SHE-CAN’s annual gala raised more than $1.3M last year. SHE-CAN has 600 mentors and more than 100 volunteers across the U.S. SHE-CAN has established formal relationships with 12 top U.S. colleges that provide full-ride scholarships for our scholars. Role and Responsibility

Reporting to the CEO, the Development Manager will manage our fundraising efforts and support the Chief Philanthropy Officer.

Key Responsibilities

Spearhead and execute long-term Sustainable Development Strategy, including growing the donor base, diversifying funding streams, strengthening donor cultivation, and bringing current and prospective donors into a long-term giving plan.

Support the Chief Philanthropy Officer by creating a calendar of public speaking events, conferences and fundraising opportunities.

Oversee Donation Processing and invoicing of pledges which is handled by the Finance Manager who reports directly to the CFO, with a dotted line to the DoD.

Collaborate with Marketing Manager to plan and execute the SHE-CAN gala.

Oversee preparation of financial projections and evaluating fundraising performance with the CEO and CFO.

Identify and draft grants to support the organization.

Fundraising Expert: Proven fundraiser including successful track records in securing donations, grants, and sponsorships.

Strategic Planner: Successful at developing and implementing long-term fundraising plans and campaigns, setting fundraising goals, developing strategies, and measuring performance.

Relationship Builder: Knowledge of donor stewardship and cultivation techniques. Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, and funding partners. Strong connections within the nonprofit sector, philanthropic community, and potential donor networks.

Innovator: Proven track record of bringing innovation: identifying new fundraising opportunities and diversifying revenue sources.

Communicator: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for grant writing, donor communications, and public relations.

Qualifications

Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in fundraising, including a track record of leading successful fundraising efforts including foundations and grants.

Knowledge of and connections within the Development Landscape: SF Bay Area experience preferred.

Staff management experience.

Excellent written and verbal skills.

Skilled project manager and able to juggle multiple tasks.

Team Player: Collaborative, resourceful, adaptable, willing to go above and beyond to support the entire team.

Tech Proficient: With essential tech skills, Salesforce or other CRM expertise is ideal.

Benefits and Compensation

Hours: This is a full time exempt position, in general, hours are Monday-Friday, 9:30-5:30. Remote work is optional on Monday and Friday but not during the Gala season; Tuesday-Thursday are in-person at our Mill Valley office.

Onsite: Candidates must live in the San Francisco Bay Area within a reasonable commute time of our office. The in-person aspect of this job is non-negotiable. This position will require minimal evenings and weekend work.

Compensation: $78-90K annually commensurate with experience..
