Job Summary:
The Communications Associate – Athletics & Events supports St. Benedict’s Prep’s communications and marketing efforts with a focus on athletics and school-wide events. This entry-level position is ideal for a creative and energetic professional looking to grow in the field of digital storytelling, sports information, and school communications. The ideal candidate will be a team player with strong writing skills, a passion for athletics, and an eye for capturing moments that reflect the mission and energy of the School.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist with content creation and promotion of athletic teams, student-athletes, and school events across digital platforms.
Attend and cover athletic games, student life activities, and school events via photography, video, and social media.
Write game recaps, student spotlights, and help draft press releases and social content.
Maintain up-to-date team rosters, schedules, and event listings on the School website.
Assist with social media scheduling and publishing for Athletics and Advancement.
Contribute to storytelling efforts for key areas including:
Gray Bee Sports
St. Benedict’s Prep School events
The Fr. Mark Payne Institute
Provide general support for communications projects, campaigns, and office needs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Exceptional copywriting skills, with the ability to craft compelling and audience-specific content.
Familiarity with videography and photography, including editing and post-production.
Adept in using digital media tools, including Adobe Creative Suite, social media management platforms, and web content management systems.
Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
High level of initiative, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
Sense of humor and adaptability in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Commitment to the mission and ideals of Benedictine education.
Willingness to work outside normal business hours when required.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field (required).
Relevant internship or school-based experience in sports information, digital media, or marketing (preferred).
