Role Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and versatile Communications Specialist to join our team and help us craft and deliver compelling messages to both internal and external audiences. Reporting to the Senior Communications Manager, this role will be instrumental in crafting compelling narratives, managing media relations, and fostering positive relationships with key stakeholders. Key Responsibilities
Content Creation: Develop engaging and informative content for various channels, including press releases, blog posts, newsletters, social media, internal communications, and website copy.
Internal Communications: Support the development and execution of internal communication strategies to keep employees informed and engaged. This includes writing internal newsletters, announcements, and managing internal communication platforms.
Media Relations Support: Assist in building and maintaining relationships with media outlets, drafting press releases, and coordinating media inquiries.
Public Relations: Support media relations activities, including tracking media coverage and developing talking points, Q&A documents and other materials to prepare company spokespeople for media interviews.
Speaking Opportunity Preparation: Research and identify speaking opportunities for company executives and prepare briefing materials, talking points, and presentations.
Message Development: Craft key messages and narratives that effectively communicate the organization’s mission, vision and values.
Ghostwriting: Craft compelling blog posts, articles, and other content on behalf of company executives, ensuring their voice and expertise are effectively communicated.
Brand Management: Maintain and update the company’s brand style guide, ensuring consistent voice and messaging across all communications materials.
Communications Support: Provide general communications support to the communications team, including administrative tasks, event planning and project management.
Measurement & Analysis: Track and analyze the effectiveness of communications initiatives, providing regular reports on key metrics and making recommendations for improvement.
Skills & Competencies
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create compelling content and adapt writing styles.
Strong understanding of public relations principles and media relations best practices.
Experience in ghostwriting or creating content on behalf of others is highly desirable.
Proficiency in using media monitoring and social media analytics tools.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a remote team.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in communications, preferably in a corporate or agency setting.
Experience with circular economy and packaging policy and trends is preferred.
Experience working for or with start-ups is a plus.
Compensation & Other Information
Location: Remote with potential for in person times
Pay Rate is based on a variety of factors in accordance with applicable law, including successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and work location
