Rhythm & Truth is seeking a passionate and dedicated Music Therapist to join our team in Los Angeles. This position starts at 10 hours per week, with potential for future full-time opportunities. In this role, you will implement music therapy sessions in diverse settings, with a primary focus in mental heath for children, youth and adults. Your responsibilities will also include documentation, marketing, program development, and community outreach. The ideal candidate is a board-certified music therapist living in west Los Angeles or willing to relocate. Must have reliable transportation for on-site sessions and bonus for having an in-home space where clients can be seen vitually or in person. Must be enthusiastic about learning, personal growth and advancing the field. Cultural competency and representation are high priorities. Music Therapy students and interns are encouraged to apply.

We are looking for someone here for the long term, someone who resonates with our vision and is interested in eventually working with us in a full time salaried position, with the possibility of being promoted to the clinical director at our LA chapter.

Responsibilities:
Implement music therapy sessions with a focus on DEIA.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client progress and treatment plans.
Participate in marketing, training and education efforts to promote Rhythm & Truth’s services and creative arts therapeutic modalities as a whole.
Contribute to program development and community outreach initiatives.
Provide on-site care group and individual music therapy for a wide range of populations and facilities including youth homes, residential treatment centers, intensive outpatient programs, and local community events.
Incorporate technology into music therapy sessions.
Facilitate drum circles and lead rhythm-based interventions.
Apply mindfulness and grounding practices using music for relaxation.
Demonstrate self-awareness and engage in ongoing cultural competency and DEI training.
Provide culturally sensitive and relevant services to clients.
Utilize skills in guitar, voice, piano, and percussion.
Provide supervision to music therapy students and interns.

The Ideal Candidate:
Board-Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) or working towards certification.
Interest in working in a variety of settings including youth and adult mental health, older adult and neurodivergence.
Open to or experience in program development and marketing techniques.
Has reliable transportation for on-site sessions and willing to drive to on site sessions.
Available to work 10+ hours per week with the intention of progressing to a full-time position.
Excellent communication and organization skills.
Regular personal self care practice.
Proficiently engage in improvisation and demonstrate strong skills in songwriting, adaptive lessons, assessments and reports.
Familiar with drum circle facilitation and basic hand percussion techniques.
Flexibility and ability to improvise.
Knowledge of mindfulness and grounding practices.
Commitment to ongoing cultural competency and DEI training.
Skills in guitar, voice, piano, and percussion.
Available to start in June of 2025 or earlier.
Commitment to staying in the Los Angeles area for at least 5 years.
Spanish speaking and / or being multilingual is a plus but not required.
Having an in-home office space suitable for seeing clients is a plus but not required.
