The Division of Marketing supports the sale and promotion of North Carolina agricultural products statewide and nationally. Through innovative programs, we help NC producers and companies access new markets, generating millions in sales and giving them a competitive edge. Our work is essential to the growth and success of North Carolina’s top industry—agriculture.

Join our team to support North Carolina’s farmers, food producers, and value-added businesses by building key partnerships with retail grocers and communities. You’ll create marketing programs, connect buyers with local producers, and develop strategies to increase the availability of NC products statewide.

Key Responsibilities:

Retail Market Development – Build and maintain relationships with grocery retailers, wholesalers, and distributors. Develop programs to promote and sell North Carolina agricultural products.
Event Representation & Networking – Represent NC agriculture at state and national trade shows, fostering relationships and marketing opportunities. Organize grower-buyer exchanges and retail-specific events.
Strategic Planning & Reporting – Develop marketing strategies, manage budgets, and track program success through regular evaluation and reporting.

Knowledge of marketing and sales.
Knowledge of agriculture and/or the food industry.
Must have a valid Driver’s License.
Ability to possess excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to analyze marketing situations and industry needs and to creatively formulate plans of work to meet these needs.
Ability to plan, organize, and direct work operations.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations among trade associations, farm groups, Government officials, co-workers, and the agricultural industry in general.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

You may qualify by an equivalent combination of education and experience, either through years of education or years of directly related experience, or a combination of both.

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, crop science, animal science, horticulture, home economics or related area of assignment from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of experience in the related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
