SUMMARY
The Marketing Specialist provides key assistance in overall marketing responsibilities, including marketing campaigns, promotions, events, media planning, and other general needs of the marketing plan. This position will be the point person for sponsorship/donation/ad-requests, including coordinating and fulfillment. The Marketing Specialist also serves as a primary champion for partnership and brand exposure opportunities with SIU and affiliate fanbase as part of Banterra’s naming rights agreement.
The ideal candidate for this role should be outgoing, self-motivated, and a creative problem-solver. Utilizing essential networking and marketing skills, the Marketing Specialist contributes greatly to the department’s overall success.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Work with Marketing Coordinator to coordinate all branch and event needs, including promotional store; fulfill supply needs with internal courier system or personal delivery and assist in staffing for tabling opportunities, etc.
Serve as the main point of contact for promotion coordination on SIU campus and to Saluki fan base, including branding and promotional opportunities with Banterra Center.
Utilize online platform(s), such as HappyFox ticketing and Kadince, to process sponsorship, donation, and advertising requests from the branches, includes supplies, advertising promotional items, and other requests as appropriate; maintain responsibility for fulfillment needs of each sponsorship.
Assist with social media plans as needed, including coordinating with Brand Ambassadors and outside influencers for content and general needs.
Assist in branch promotions, including preparation and distribution of in-branch advertising pieces such as flyers, signs, hand-outs, and banners.
Assist with copywriting needs, distribute press releases, and follow-up with media for coverage as directed.
Provide graphic design, editing, and proofreading tasks as needed. Should be able to use Canva at a minimum for design needs.
Assist in the implementation and maintenance of procedures for the organization’s business development, advertising, public relations, and marketing functions.
Assist with media planning, negotiations, and fulfillment.
As needed, assist with online marketing needs including online banner placement; web, mobile, and tablet development; email programs; social media; SEO and PPC media opportunities, as well as website changes through CMS as appropriate.
Create presentations for meeting needs and in-branch marketing opportunities.
Assume responsibility for special projects and tasks as assigned.
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, a related field, or a commensurate combination of education and experience required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Demonstrable understanding of design and marketing principles.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with internal and external customers at all levels.
Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong critical-thinking skills and the ability to analyze potential project outcomes with the adaptability to redirect attention as needed to meet targets and deadlines.
A positive and proactive approach to work, demonstrating enthusiasm, adaptability, and the ability to maintain composure and professionalism in stressful or adverse conditions.
Proficient computer literacy, including comfort with Microsoft systems and Office Suite.
Intermediate typing skills to meet the needs of this position.
Current driver’s license and reliable transportation with appropriate insurance coverage; additionally, the ability to drive occasionally in the course of performing assigned duties and responsibilities.
The ability to work with minimal or no supervision.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Direct experience in Marketing strongly preferred.
