Leon Speakers is the leader in high-end, custom audio-visual sound and furnishing solutions, and is poised for substantial growth. Leon is making significant investments in its organization, including hiring a world-class individual to lead its Sales & Marketing team. The VP of Sales & Marketing will be responsible for developing the strategy to enable Leon to achieve its growth potential and will lead a talented organization in achieving ambitious sales goals.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal person for this role is first and foremost a salesperson – someone who can sell a major commercial project to a CEO or a restaurant recommendation to their friends. Selling must be a foundational part of this person’s DNA.
The ideal candidate is also a proven sales leader – someone who knows how to motivate others to achieve sales results and is both a coach and mentor. They are also experienced in B2B sales, and understand how to sell to businesses (and ideally through dealers and representatives).
The ideal candidate is a strategist – someone who is comfortable thinking into the future and around the corner, and capable of developing strategic plans that others can understand, get excited about and execute. They also must be a professional manager – someone who knows how to lead an organization, run meetings, organize themselves and others in a way that leads to successful results.
Finally, this person must be a great cultural fit for Leon – they should have a deep appreciation for music, art & design, get along well with others and demonstrate optimism and enthusiasm in everything they do. They are design minded and tuned into and appreciative of design trends and ideas.
While not required, the ideal candidate also has experience in the audio-visual field, a good bit of marketing knowledge, an understanding of customer service operations and experience integrating new technology solutions.
PRIMARY JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The VP of Sales & Marketing is responsible for developing the strategy and ensuring the execution of that strategy to drive sustainable and profitable revenue growth at Leon across all channels. The primary objective of this role is to maximize top line revenue opportunities by expanding the depth and breadth of the existing dealer channel as well as the depth and breadth of our customer solutions channel. The VP of Sales & Marketing is responsible for marketing strategy and execution, sales strategy and execution and customer operations strategy and execution. You will be expected to not only develop a winning strategy, but to hire the right people into key roles to ensure the successful implementation of that strategy, and to be a hands-on manager, teaching your team how to become the most effective and successful marketers, sales people and operators possible. The VP of Sales & Marketing will work hand in hand with the President and COO to chart a course for significant revenue and profit growth in the next 3-5 years, putting Leon in a position to take its next big step as a company.
Sales Leadership
Lead from the front by personally driving sales with customers big and small
Work hand in hand with the existing sales team to raise everyone’s game – teach members of the Leon team to sell, manage the sales team to achieve results and implement sales processes
Work closely with our manufacturer’s representatives and dealers to sell our products and ensure that Leon’s brand is properly represented in the marketplace
Strategy
Lead long term and short term strategic planning with analysis of market trends, competitor activity, understanding of customer segments and needs, and identification of growth opportunities
Use historical information and leading indicators to develop and execute strategic plan to achieve sales targets, develop relevant metrics, maximize ROI and prepare for future growth
Prepare financial reports and budgets
Achieve budget objectives by scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, initiating corrective actions and reporting significant issues to executive management
Support business development strategy and new channel opportunities
Work closely with the Sales team to create opportunities for growth across multiple customer segments and support the team with relevant materials and data to achieve plans
Work closely with the other department heads, including product design, production and finance to ensure strategic goals are clearly set and effectively communicated across the organization
Management
Build and maintain relationships with internal team by coaching, providing regular feedback and performing annual performance assessments
Host Level 10 Meeting and coordinate Action Items and Cascading Communications
Create and maintain accountability for team members
Maintain a positive work environment through a professional presence with the ability to diplomatically lead in difficult situations
Marketing
Lead the creation of the annual marketing plan along with development of marketing materials, sales tools, trade show participation and advertising strategy to support growth initiatives and branding strategy
Effectively communicate Leon’s core differentiators, value proposition, strong brand appeal and company culture
Track, monitor and report on marketing effectiveness and key metrics to stakeholders across the organization
Study and report on relevant market conditions and competitive trends, leveraging insights to pivot existing deployments and shape future marketing strategy.
Develop and deploy relevant sales tools
Coordinate and attend events and launches, including several major trade shows and regional events
